Cell Limerick
It’s hard to tell some cells apart
If you don’t know where you should start
Just look far within
The membrane so thin
And you could come up with a chart
If you can see little organelles
And free DNA in the gel
It’s likely that you
For sure through and through
See a prokaryotic cell
But if you see some organelles
With membranes on them like a shell
There is a good chance
You’re in the expanse
Of a eukaryotic cell
Explanation:
This limerick is about some differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. It explains that
prokaryotic cells have only a small number of organelles and free DNA in the cytoplasm. It also
explains that eukaryotic cells have organelles that are wrapped in membranes. What the limerick
basically did was compare some contrasting elements between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells
to help identify each cell type.
