Mentoring Program

Be The Match● Be the Match is a non-profit community of volunteers, donors, and

researchers, and health care professionals that provides aid to patients with blood cancer.

● Date: To be determined…

Baxter Speaker/Tour● For more than 80 years, Baxter has introduced significant medical innovations,

including the first commercially produced intravenous (IV) solutions and the first

home-based dialysis system as an alternative to hemodialysis in a hospital or clinic.

3D Printed Prosthetics / BCI● 3D Printed Prosthetics

○ Creating attachments for a functional arm

Economic Air Filter Mask● Meetings Tuesdays 6PM in Makerspace

● Addressing needs of smog in cities around the world,

primarily in developing countries

● 3D printing frame/structure of mask, reverse engineering

current masks

○ 3 Year plan: Comfortable mask this year, desired

functional capacity next year, and fully economical in

final year

New Project: Emotion Detection with EEG● The first goal of this project is to use BMES’s Emotiv Epoc 14 channel wireless EEG

headset to detect a person’s emotional state. ● The second goal of this project is to take the acquired data and apply it to a drawing

program for a person to make computerized art based on their EEG and emotional state.

● Another possible application would be to have a neurofeedback component wherein the person receives real-time coaching on attention and emotion control.

● Extensive coding is required and some experience is necessary; Anyone who is interested in collaborating on this project should have a strong desire to learn programming.

● The open source software available for processing data from the Epoc is written in Python.
