The Company Today

What happens when you take BioWare’s blockbuster,

critically acclaimed titles — like Baldur’s Gate, the

Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Dragon

Age and Mass Effect — and re-conceive them for social

gaming? You get an entirely new experience on the

gaming scene, and BioWare Social is the studio leading

the charge for this emerging venture for BioWare. At

BioWare Social, we’re focused on translating the

emotionally engaging and rich stories, unforgettable

characters and vast worlds that captivate our console

consumers into equally compelling social games

that can be played across all platforms. It’s a

fast-paced and creative environment where

designers, engineers, producers, and artists come

together to create fun for anyone, anywhere.

On December 1, 2011 Electronic Arts

purchased free-to-play, social games

studio KlickNation and joined BioWare

San Francisco under the new business

unit, BioWare Social, to focus on the

BioWare Social -

Sacramento’s History

KlickNation began in 2007 with two partners, Mark Otero and Ken Walton, and

their endeavor to make gifting, messaging and picture-commenting applications

on networks like Hi5 and MySpace. In February 2009, Mark followed his passion

and began designing a video game. He hired six employees and the team

worked tirelessly in a small room above Mochii Yogurt (Mark’s yogurt shop) to

bring his vision to life. In June 2009, SuperHero City launched on Facebook

and was the first RPG with Flash animated battles. On July 4, 2009, their

social gaming company, KlickNation, was officially formed. Less than a year

later, KlickNation expanded to 20 employees and released another huge

success: a fantasy RPG called Age of Champions. By the end of 2010, the

team of 20 grew to 70 and they began developing new games. Their

success was heard loud and clear and eventually caught the eye of an

industry leader. On December 1st, EA/BioWare acquired KlickNation

and welcomed the entire team to their family as BioWare Social!

About Midtown Sacramento

Midtown Sacramento is a largely residential community

with tree-lined streets and old Victorians. BioWare

Sacramento is positioned at the epicenter of

Sacramento's art, music, and cultural scene where

neighboring art galleries and venues host the Second

Saturday Art Walk, Midtown Cocktail Week, and

Sacramento Wine and Dine.

Fun facts about Sacramento:

• For a second straight year, Sacramento topped all

California cities as a mover's destination in 2010.

• Ranked in the Top 10 "Best U.S. Cities to Live, Work, and Play";

a nationwide survey based on strong economies and abundant

jobs, reasonable living costs, and plenty of fun things to do.

• Sacramento's Crocker Art Museum is the longest continuously

operating art museum in the West.

• Sacramento has TWO professional sport teams:

NBA's Sacramento Kings and the Pacific League

minor league baseball team the Sacramento Rivercats.

• The Power Balance Pavilion, our arena, welcomes many amazing

performers all year long, like Prince, the Black Keys, and U2.

• We have a building some in town call The Darth Vader Building.

• On a clear day you can see all the way to the Sierras.

Amazing skiing and snowboarding is only a quick drive away!
