The little box with a door, known as BHS, is now undergoing a
radical transformation. What was a bare plywood subfloor, will be
a lovely antiquated hardwood floor. What was bare drywall, will be
given a nice coat of classic white, while the ceiling exhibits an
original mural of abstracted sky (or could it be water?)...and of
course, every conceivable measure to organize and make the workspace more functional (and beautiful!) will be taken!

Art In The Park 2010: A Volu nteer Effort
Each year, just before the autumn colors are ushered in, Art in the
Park takes place on Labor Day weekend along the banks of the
Ashuelot River in Keene. Yes, it is the very same river that BHS
resides by upstream.
Given the immense need of volunteers, I opted to be one instead of
displaying artwork, which was fine considering the art was neededfor the Peoples Bank display shortly thereafter (see above). My
duties as roamer were to assist artists with loading and unloading
artwork from their vehicles, setting up tents, relieving them from
those tents later on for bathroom or food breaks, taking photos, an-
nouncing raffle winners, passing out brochures and answering ques-
tions about the event.
The extra help was well received by both the artists and the public.
Again and again, surveys reported that AIP this year seemed bigger
than previous years. Over all, it was a very successful event!
I have been asked by many folks if I will be displaying at AIP next
year. The answer is yes, pending on if I have the display materials
necessary to do so. There are many BHS to-dos on the list for
preparation, and needless to say, some of those things are expensive
investments that may or may not be fulfilled by next year. But you
can certainly expect to see me there in the future!
If you would like to volunteer for AIP 2011, I welcome you to con-
tact me for more information. We appreciate your help!

2010 Federal Duck Stam p Contest Entry
The entry is still currently in judging as far as is
known by the artist. Results should be in by late
October or early-to-mid November. This years
entry features a Canada Goose as it plumes it
breast while standing in shallow water. It is a very
busy image with bright colors and minute details,
which would make it an unusual choice for the
judges, should it win. The artist is still debating
on which species she will draw for next year, but
wants to wait and see how this years design is
received before starting.2010 Federal Duck Stamp Entry

Goose Pond is a lovely body of water on the north end of Keene. I began the

my husband and I called home for the first months of our marriage. Now on
to the fourth painting, the series has grown in popularity with each install-
ment. There will be seven pieces in all. Oil on Canvas, $1,500
