British Congress of Obstetrics and GynaecologyThis congress is to be held from July 16 to 18 in Bristol. The

Gulbenkian Foundation GrantsGrants by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation of Lisbon,

made or promised in the second half of last year, include£ 20,000 (over three years) to the National Council of SocialService to enable a committee to study the recruitment, train-ing, and work of the staff in residential homes for those inneed of care. Another grant goes to the National Institute forSocial Work Training, which is considering what expansion oftraining may be possible in the next five years.

Lady Tata Memorial TrustThe trustees of this Trust invite applications for fellowships,

scholarships, and grants for research on leukxmia.Programmes of research on any aspect of malignant disease which

may throw light on problems of leukxmia will be considered, and thetrustees specially wish to encourage studies of the leukaemogenicviruses in mammals, the epidemiology and natural history of leuk-xmia, and the genetical and cytological aspects. The awards are opento investigators of any nationality, working either in their own insti-tutions or in other centres abroad, in any country where payment canbe made. Milbank Memorial FundOn June 1 Dr. Alexander Robertson will succeed Dr. Frank

G. Boudreau as executive director of the Fund. Dr. Boudreau,who is president of the Fund, has been its executive officer fortwenty-five years.

Dr. Robertson graduated in medicine at Edinburgh in 1949, andheld research and teaching posts there until 1954. In 1955 he joinedthe staff of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine,and also took charge of the department of social and preventivemedicine at the Royal Free Hospital. In 1958 he became head of the

department of social and preventive medicine of the University ofSaskatchewan. He has studied and lectured in the United Statesand in a number of South American and European countries.

Northcott Devon Medical Foundation

Part of the capital of this trust (Lancet, Feb. 3, p. 281) is tobe used to build an institute for postgraduate medical work,and it is expected that the doctors of Devon will contribute thefurnishings and equipment. It will provide a home for theDevon and Exeter Medico-Chirurgical Society and the Exetermedical library. The building will also be open to other medicalsocieties. It is intended that the residual income will be usedto advance postgraduate studies in medicine, surgery, andallied subjects, and in particular to provide help for research byindividual doctors in Devon.

The University of Louvain has conferred an honorary M.D. onDr. Alick Isaacs.

On Thursday, Feb. 15, at 5.30 P.M., at the Fountain Hospital,Tooting Grove, London, S.W. 17, Dr. Alison McDonald will speak onneurological disorders in children of low birth weight.

The Cerebral Palsy Bulletin has changed its name to DevelopmentMedicine and Child Neurology, with Incorporating the Cerebral PalsyBulletin as a subtitle. The Little Club Clinics in DevelopmentalMedicine, which are monographs, proceedings of conferences,symposia and the like, will be continued and four new issues willappear during 1962.

The Citizen and Mental Care.-This short catechism has beenprepared by the National Council of Social Service, with the helpof the National Association for Mental Health and the Ministry ofHealth.
