From the Desk of Father Bosco Dear Friends, People flocked to hear Jesus. Why? ‘Because, unlike the scribes (the official teachers), he taught them with authority.’ Yet he held no official position. Where then did his authority come from? It came from the fact that he spoke with his own voice. At that time no scribe expressed an opinion of his own. He would always back up his statements with quotations from the great legal masters of the past. But that only showed lack of authority. But Jesus talked out of experience. He began by doing. Only then did he start to

teach. There is no authority like the authority of the one who has lived what he is saying. Ideally words and deeds should always go together. The weakness of a lot of words arises from the fact that they are not preceded by, or accompanied by, or followed by deeds. Lord, grant that what we say with our lips, we may believe with our hearts, and practice with our lives.

I wish you and your loved ones another week of God’s grace and favor. Next weekend, Jim & Pat Martin will be sponsoring the $1 Challenge in memory of the deceased members of the Bussman & Martin families.

OUR CALL TO STEWARDSHIP

“Brothers and sisters: I should like you to be free of anxieties.” 1 CORINTHIANS 7:32

How much anxiety do we bring upon ourselves worrying about not having enough or attaining more things? God won’t necessarily give you everything you want, but He will provide everything you need. Try this - use the word “pray” instead of the word “worry” in the future.

CATHOLIC HERALD_______________________

THANK YOU____________________________ Thanks to all who collected Piggly Wiggly receipts for December! The total of the receipts collected was $4511.21. Piggly Wiggly will donate 1% = $45.11 back to Holy Rosary. A big thank you to Angie Murray for totaling the receipts!

ANONYMOUS DONOR___________________ A visitor came to Holy Rosary Church and during the Mass he suddenly felt a strong urge to look up. When he did he noticed that the ceiling fans needed cleaning. Since he knew that it would take a lot to get up there to clean them, scaffolding, etc., he donated $500 with the hope that someone would match his donation. Since the scaffolding will have to be put up, it makes sense that we should also include cleaning the lighting fixtures.

Please contact Father Bosco if you can help! Thank you to the anonymous donor for his generosity!

NEW PARISH NAME_____________________ The top 3 names chosen in the election, in preference order, were: 1. Our Lady of Fatima 2. Saint Pope John Paul II 3.Our Lady of Guadalupe. These names are being submitted to Bishop Morlino for him to choose our new parish name!
