Global warming

Page 2: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

What's happening to our world!

Glaciers are melting!

Temperatures are rising!

Extreme weather changes!

Page 3: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

Did you know that 14.8 million acres of rain forest are cut down annually.

Also each year 2.2 billion tons of co2 are discharged into the air do to burning of forests.

Page 4: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

If we reforested 386,000 square miles it sequester more than 11 billion tons of co2.

AlsoCO2 has also been a problem towards greenhouse gases.

Page 5: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

This co2 will lead to higher temperatures and will then lead to melting Glaciers and so on.

But every year humans produce 11 billion tons of co2

What happens when glaciers melt?

Glaciers retreat doubling to 12 kilometers a year.

Already the sea levels have risen between 4-8 inches world wide during the last century, and experts predict they could rise as much as 2 feet in the next 100 years.

Page 7: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

Also global warming will change the

weather dramatically. Which means that

more hurricanes will come and other terrible storms.

In a matter of time snow will melt away into dry hot grounds.

Page 8: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

At least 279 different species are migrating north to escape warm weather.

If the glaciers keep melting than this might happen to you.

Did You Know?Sea levels aren't what's only going on…

… Animals like the polar bears are being pushed out from their hunting grounds are now on the endangered list.

Carbon dioxide or co2 takes 100 years to disperse in the atmosphere.

The us is responsible for 19.91% of the worlds carbon dioxide emissions.

Page 11: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

Here's another thing that scares me.

Producing the annual beef diet of the average American emits as much greenhouse gas as a car driven more than 1,800 miles.

Page 12: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

The university of Illinois has found a way to turn carbon dioxide into useful fuel in the process of Artificial photosynthesis.

Into

Page 13: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

People like you have volunteered to plant trees all over the world.

Also big groups like Disney nature has started a program to plant 1 billion trees all around the world.

Page 14: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

If we work together we can do the

same and maybe even better.

Page 15: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

You can help by

starting a

community

program

In that you can use thing that don’t produce very much co2

or something that takes away co2.

Page 16: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

You could change little things like putting in a fluorescent light bulb.

or

Install a programmable thermostat.

Page 17: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

Move your thermostat down 2 degrees in winter and up 2 degrees in summer.

Clean or replace filters on your furnace and air conditioner.

Page 18: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

Choose energy efficient appliances.

Don’t leave machines or appliances on while gone.

Page 19: Blake tamplin period 7 global warming project

You can make a difference by getting

out more any of those other things.

Thank you for watching.
