Minolta Corp., Instrument Systems Div., introduces the CM-503i, the latest edition of its economical CM- 500 series. The portable spectro- photometer features a 3-mm diameter measurement area to analyze ex- tremely small samples. The CM-503i meets IS0 and DIN standards for d/8 geometry, as well as CIE recommenda- tions for d/O geometry and ASTM t/O geometry. To ensure highly accurate results, the CM-503i calculates data using a wide variety of color and color-difference formulas, observer

functions, and any of 11 illuminants. The spectrophotometer displays spec- tral reflectance, pass/fail readings, and color difference graphs, as well as data calculated under two illuminants si- multaneously. Data can be stored on the CM-503i’s 256-kbyte memory card. This allows data to be recalled at a later time for comparison against new readings, or for data to be transferred to a PC for further analysis.

Gaff’s line of CT continuous blast cleaning barrels features a totally elec-

tronic blasting process, providing max- imum cleaning rates and minimum wear. The CT cleans mixed batches or single-casting products and features fully automated and uninterrupted pro- duction flow from the molding line to the cleaning shop. Available with either 2, 3, 4, or 6 of Goff’s patented blast wheels, the CT provides a smooth, even blast pattern throughout the entire blast-

ing area, so parts are cleaned thoroughly and efficiently. All abrasive is totally reclaimed and recycled, in addition to being filtered for elimination of any foreign matter. The CT also provides operators with the ability to control blast intensity based on the casting flow going through the machine at any given time. Several different discharge config- urations are available to meet specific requirements.

Byk-Gardner offers the dynometer for analytical evaluation of surface tension, sedimentation properties, and hardness of sediment. The dynometer’s latest update is the addition of PC software for display, storage, and out- put of measured data. A separate recorder is no longer necessary, and manipulation of several sets of data has been made easier. One of several measurements that can be performed with the dynometer and new PC soft- ware is surface tension via the ring method. The dynometer not only meas- ures the maximum surface tension (wetting properties), but also records and displays the increasing and de- creasing surface tension values. In addition, the dynometer allows the evaluation of sedimentation properties of liquids and gives information on the
