Tell us about how you met ?

Stan and I met on Match.com. Definitely the best decision

we've both ever made :) It started with emails and then to

phone conversation. After the first time we spoke we

decided to meet for our first date.

Page 9: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

Page 12: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

When Did you know you wanted to spend the rest of your life

with your significant other?

I think that after we had actually met in person and went on

our first date, both Stan and I knew that this was something

so special. Our relationship was so easy going and we really

understood each other. It wasn't shortly after that date that

we both knew we wanted to be together forever. 6 months

after that we moved in together!

Page 13: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love
Page 14: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

Tell us about the proposal The proposal was the best. About 6 months before

Stan asked me to marry him, we were at home watching

some reality TV show about guys planning out proposals

for their girlfriends. One guy had the girls friends and

family there after he proposed to celebrate and also as a

surprise for his girlfriend. I told Stan that I would like my

friends and family to be there when he proposed.

“My response was ‘Of course I will marry you!’”

Fast forward to May of 2011 we were getting

ready to leave on vacation with some friends that were

coming in from out of town. He told me that before we met

up for dinner with our friends we needed to make a stop to

pick up something that he had purchased. He wouldn't tell

me what it was, just said that I would love it. So he puts a

blindfold on me and drives around. He leads me out to the

Marina (we lived in Venice Beach at the time), I heard to

boats, the birds, and the water. Next thing he stops me

and says to take off the blindfold when I did I saw him

down on one knee with the exact ring I had chosen when we

went ring shopping. My response was, "Of course I will

marry you!"

After I answered I heard cheering and clapping

behind me. He had gathered our closest friends and family to come and be a part of this experience

afternoon cruising around and a nice dinner with more friends for our engagement party. I couldn't b

Page 16: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

Our wedding day was absolutely amazing. It was better than I had

imagined. Everything went as scheduled and the weather was great.

The venue itself is so beautiful so to add the little accents we did

made it so awesome! The most memorable part of our wedding was

when our friend (who worked at the same FD department as Stan a

while back) had that departments old fire engine come to our actual

ceremony. We were able to take pictures on it and it was a cool accent

and acknowledgment of Stan's profession. It was so unexpected and

it was a great surprise.

My wedding planning experience was

great. My friend, Ashley Garing, is

trying to become a wedding planner,

so she offered her services.

She was the best! She handled

everything for me as far as contact-

ing vendors and the venue. If an issue came up she would be on top of it and would ha

made out of, the length of the train, and the overall style of the dress.

Tony proposed to me on Valentine's Day at the same restaurant

that we had our first date. We even sat at the same table that we

did 5 years earlier. It was very intimate and heartfelt.

Tell us about your wedding day and your most memorable moment?

Every little detail about my wedding was perfect. I received so

many compliments on the venue and the professionalism of my

vendors. My most memorable moment would have to be walking

down the aisle with my proud father, and seeing the look on my fi-

ancé's face.

Page 50: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love
Page 51: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

Tell us about your wedding planning experience? (Did you plan yourself, or

hire a planner)

I was a very hands-on bride because I'm a little bit of a control freak. But

I couldn't have gotten through the whole wedding planning experience

without the help of my wedding coordinator, Melissa Botten Hickok with

I Do Darlin'. I was so comforting knowing that I had someone as creative

and professional as Melissa to assist me through the whole planning

process but even more importantly on the actual wedding day. When you

have someone good handling your big day, you can definitely enjoy it

more. Trust me, it is over with in a flash. You want to be able to soak up

every moment.

Page 52: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

What advice would you give to a bride to be about your whole experience

(i.e.; planning /wedding day)

Hire a wedding planner! In the end, it's worth the little extra money to have

a lot more piece of mind on your wedding day. At least hire a day-of planner

if you can't afford one from the start. Your day with go by much smoother

with someone outside your friends and family handling everything for you.

Also, invest in a good photographer.

Page 53: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

For me, I budgeted a little more than usual for a professional, experienced,

and very talented photographer. After your wedding day is over, in what

seems like 5 minutes, your pictures will be your best keepsake from that

day. You don't want to skimp on the photographer or the DJ. My best

advice is to just HAVE FUN!

Page 54: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love
Page 55: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

Where did you Honeymoon ?

We decided to push the honeymoon back to the summer time because of

our busy schedules and better options for locations that time of year. We

plan on going some place tropical and exotic, like St. Lucia or Bora Bora.

Nobody says you have to go on a honeymoon right after your wedding. Plan

it right and go when it's best for you and your husband.

so I knew if I set up anything

suspicious she'd guess my in-

from out of town in a rush to

pick up the ring from the jew-

eler before 5:00pm. I picked up

the ring just in time and went home to meet Trinity. There I gave her a love letter, disguised

as a bill, I had written earlier in the day and went out into the living room. The letter told her

all the reasons I was lucky to be with her and how much I loved her, plus it had instructions to

come out into the living room without our excited dogs following her. When she came out to

see what I was up to I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. Through her tears,

she said yes."

Ceremony Details

The ceremony was held outdoors on a beautiful sunny day in

March at the Gardens at Heather Farm in Walnut Creek,

California. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan so all of the

processional music was from the Harry Potter soundtracks.

The ceremony was short and sweet. We had our own

personal vows prepared and also exchanged roses as our

first gift as husband and wife. After being pronounced

husband and wife, we walked off to the Imperial Death

March.

about your reception.

The reception was also held

at the Gardens. It was laid

back and began with a

smores bar and cocktail

hour. For food, we served

gourmet pizza that turned

out to be very chic, well-

done, and very affordable.

We also had an area for

games, which many of the

younger children in atten-

dance enjoyed. The recep-

tion also included the "cake

-in-the-face" game in which

our guests donated money

to see either the bride or

groom get the first piece

of cake in the face. Of

course, David found him-

self on the "losing" end.

The reception also included

toasts from close family

and friends and the tradi-

What advice would you give to a bride to be about your whole experience ?

Try not to sweat the small stuff. When you are planning it, it seems like all the

little things are critical but when you are in the moment it is such a day of love

and support that any small thing that goes wrong isn't actually a big deal.

Also, try to enjoy it because the actual wedding day is fleeting and you worked

really hard for it.

Cloud Parade is an online marketplace where a hip and trendy

couple can shop and design their wedding all in one spot! Its fun

to have a "cloud", which is our version of a pin board and shop

hundreds of shops in the Cloud Parade marketplace that are

curated and easy to navigate.

It has been said that Your Cloud Parade is as if Pinterest and

Etsy had a baby in the wedding world. Its fun and addicting for

any wedding couple.

Page 98: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

How did you get into your profession and how long have you

been in business ?

All the owners of Your Cloud Parade

have been in the wedding business

for over 6 years. Cloud Parade was

designed to fill a huge hole in the

wedding industry.

We launched Cloud Parade in

January 2013, but it has been in

production since 2012.

What sets your business apart

from others ?

I would like to say that we are the

only online marketplace where a

wedding couple can shop and design

their hip wedding all in one spot :)

Most other sites just bring an

element of the full shopping or

designing process

Page 99: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love
Page 100: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

What are your specialties?

One of the best parts

of Cloud Parade is our

Filtering system. A

wedding couple can

pick a color, category,

and style prior to

shopping the site.

We also make sure

that every shop owner

that opens a shop on

the Cloud Parade Mar-

ketplace is curated to

fit the Cloud Parade Brand. We make sure a bride doesn't

need to "go on an extensive search" to find that rad item...

all the items are awesome!

Page 105: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

Where does your inspiration come from ?

We are inspired by "wanting to be

different". We want to be the place where a

wedding couple can shop and design their

wedding all in one spot and not take hours

filtering through content or items that

just "aren't the right fit".

We are inspired by art, color, great

design, and creativity. At heart we are all

artist, and if we could get married again

(we have all been married for 7 or more

years) we would be using Your Cloud Parade

to design our perfect weddings.

hy? hmmmm... well I can tell you this. Every decision we make has

esn't fit the brand than it WILL NOT be on Cloud Parade. I really

rder....

Page 106: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

What is your biggest accomplishment ?

An attempt and constant work towards a happy marriage

(I LOVE MY HUSBAND), and raising my 2 children. That is truly

my biggest priority!... and I hope I can say its my biggest

accomplishment in 50 years from now.

Marriage has not been modeled well for me in

the past, so when it came to my own marriage I

have decided that my husband Mark is my one

and only. I work constantly to make sure that the

one I chose almost 7 years ago comes first. Its

soooooo hard to find a balance, but honestly

with out the stability at home there is no way

Your Cloud Parade would be as incredible as it is

today!

On a practical business level, CLOUD PARADE!

looking back on my life I have done a lot. As the

creator of the Your Cloud Parade concept there

have been moments where I have had to force

myself to SLOW DOWN.... but when I look back I know the best

business accomplishment has been this marketplace. And its

only this great because of our amazing team and the other

Cloud Parade owners, Molly and Mark.

Page 107: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

What is your dream project ?

My dream project is to more of an activity... I want to hike a moun-

tain every day for a month straight. Since I live in Southern Califor-

nia that is actually impossible, but that is my "dream". I also picture

myself having a house in the woods one day with a hammock out

front....

When it comes to "dream projects" for

Your Cloud Parade, well they are hap-

pening right now! I get to travel to

amazing places, I get to see some of

the coolest weddings, and I get to

work with the best wedding vendors

in the industry. That is my job at

Your Cloud Parade and Cloud Parade

is my dream project!

What should your customers

expect to experience while on

your site ?

They should expect to go on to the

Your Cloud Parade site and begin their shopping experience im-

mediately. The amount of amazingness and cuteness on the site

is overwhelming :)

5 Costly Mistakes to Avoid When Planning Your Wedding

Planning a wedding can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! You can successfully

plan your dream wedding IF you avoid these 5 common mistakes that many brides

make:

1. Not Hiring a Wedding Planner

Many brides think that hiring a wedding planner is a luxury re-

served only for the rich and famous. Not true. In fact, hiring an

experienced and professional wedding planner just may be the

best thing you can do for your wedding.

If you've never planned a wedding before, chances are you're unfa-

miliar with the going rate of many of the products and services

you'll need to obtain for your wedding. A planner can help you

avoid costly mistakes and shield you from the risk of being taken

advantage of. Not to mention, most planners are skilled in the

art of negotiation and will go to bat for you to get the best rates

on services. Also, wedding planners often have access to deep

discounts that are not always available to the general public. If a

planner provides continuous business to a vendor, it is not un-

common for the vendor to show their appreciation in the form of

discounts, which are usually passed onto the planner’s clients.

Not only will you save money, but you will also save so much time

by not having to blindly research vendors while keeping your fin-

gers crossed that you make a good choice. Hiring a wedding plan-

ner should be included in your overall wedding budget.

Page 115: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

2. Neglecting to Set a Budget

Everyone has a budget. EVERYONE. Whether it is $10,000 or

$1,000,000, there should be a concrete dollar amount that you are

not willing to exceed. Setting a realistic wedding budget should be at

the top of your priority list, before you begin making any plans.

It's really important that you do your research to find out the aver-

age cost of services in your area. Call a few vendors to get a price

quote so that you'll have a general idea of what things really cost so

that you're not blindsided when it's time to book those services. Call

3-5 vendors in each category so that you'll have an idea of both the

low and high end costs and use the average to determine how much

you should set aside for each service.

Your wedding budget determines the size and scope of your event. It

lets you know what you can and cannot afford. When you’re meeting

with vendors, be upfront and honest about how much you can actually

spend so that they can recommend services and packages that are

within your budget. The last thing you want to happen is for you to be

in the middle of planning your dream wedding only to find you’ve run

out of money along the way.

“If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional, just wait until you

hire an amateur”.

Page 116: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

3. Not Hiring Professional Vendors

“If you think it’s expensive to

hire a professional, just wait until

you hire an amateur”. Repeat this

phrase over and over in your mind

when considering your ven-

dors. Your wedding will likely be one

of the biggest investments you’ll

make in your life. Now is NOT the

time to compromise the quality of

services by choosing vendors solely

based on their cheap prices.

Have you ever heard the saying “you get what you pay for?” Now,

I’m not saying that you have to choose the most expensive ven-

dors you come across, but instead, choose the vendor that is of-

fering the most value for what you’re paying. In addition, consider

their experience, professionalism, and ability to produce what

they say they can (as should be evidenced by their portfolio and

references). It is also not a good idea to put your friends and

family members in charge of such important tasks as cooking the

food, setting up décor, overseeing the event, etc. Although they

may be capable of doing a wonderful job, these people are your

GUESTS. They should be able to sit back, relax, and bask in the joy

of celebrating your nuptials.

Page 117: Blissful2be Summer Issue Blissfully In Love

4. DIY Overload

There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking on a few do-it-yourself

projects for your wedding. If you are a crafty bride, or know there is a small

project that you can knock out on your own to save money, go for it! The prob-

lem comes in when you try to tackle too many DIY projects, get in way over

your head by trying to handle things that you may have never done before, or

attempt to make something you thought would be simple but turned out to

be way too complicated to complete. How mortifying (and costly) would it

be, to get to the end of your project only to realize that it looks nothing like

the fabulous pictures you saw on Pinterest. On top of that, you now have to

dip into your budget to hire someone, or purchase something, to fix your mis-

take. Paying twice is a major budget killer. When at all possible, leave it to

the experts.

5. Trying to Follow Trends/Traditions

The #1 rule when it comes to planning your wedding is that there are no

rules. By this, I mean, you do not have to follow “tradition” or jump on every

trend bandwagon that you hear or see on wedding blogs and in maga-

zines. Your wedding should reflect your personal style as a couple. Trying to

mimic what you’re used to seeing is not only monetarily costly, but it will also

cost you your happiness and satisfaction. You want to feel proud and satis-

fied when look back at your wedding photos. Be true to who you are, and have

the wedding of YOUR dreams, not someone else’s!
