Cutting
Background BG cut (3) 2 ¾ “ Square Cut (1) 3 ¼ “ squares Cut (2) 2 ¾ “ X 5 “ rectangles Cut (1) 5 3/8 “ square
Cut once on the diagonal to give (2) triangles. Cut once on the diagonal to give (2) triangles. You will need only 1.
Print A Cut (1) 3 ¼ “ square Cut once on the diagonal to give 2 triangles.
Print B Cut (2) 2 ¾ “ squares
Print C Cut (2) rectangles 2 ¾ “ X 5 ¼ “
Print D Cut (1) square 3 ¼ “ Cut in half on the diagonal to give 2 triangles.
Making the Units
1) Sew a BG triangle to an A triangle on the diagonal making a HST unit. Make 2 . These should now measure 2 ¾ “square.
2) Draw a diagonal line on (2) of the 2 ¾ inch BG squares.
3) Using the sew and flip method sew to the Print C 2 ¾ “X 5 “rectangles. Note these are mirror images.
Note Trim this unit to 2 ¾ “X 5” if needed.
Note Trim this unit to 2 ¾ “x 5” if needed.
4) Add a print D triangle to the end of a BG 2 ¾ “X 5 “rectangle. Make 2. Note they are mirror images.
Assembling the Block
Join a HST unit from #1 to the 3 ¼” BG square.
Join a HST unit from #1 to the print B 2 ¾ “ square
Join the 2 units you have just made.
Add a unit made in #3 to the right side of this unit,
Add the B 2 ¾ “ square to the end of the other unit made in #3.
Sew this unit to the left side of the unit above.
Add the units made in #4 to the right and left side of the main unit. Watch the direction.
Add the large BG triangle to the bottom of your block.
