Literacy
Reading
This week’s reading is based on a book by Kes Gray. Visit https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zrtjqp3 and listen to the extract from Daisy and the Trouble With Life and then complete ‘Activity 1: Sequence events in a story’. Choose at least one more of the follow up activities below the text to complete.
Writing
We are learning about facts and opinions this week.
Facts: Facts are definitely true. They can be backed up with evidence.
Opinions: Your opinion is how you feel. Other people might think differently,
they have an opinion.
To learn more about what a fact and an opinion is, here is an active video to watch:

Health And Well BeingLes Mills is a famous brand of group fitness workouts. They have some great tracks for children too. Here are 3 that I think are great. You could do one a day or all of them in a row:

RE
We are learning that during the month of May we honour Mary, Mother of Jesus and Mother of us all. Watch the Hail Mary clip:
IDL/RRS
As a school we are aiming to get our Rights Respecting School Gold award.
To do this we all need to work together learning about the Articles of the UN Charter For The Rights
Of A Child.
Mrs Conway and the RRS school committee are taking the lead for this.
On the blog post there is an attachment for a PDF which is about the article that our school are looking
at this week.
On the final page of the PDF there are some activities for you to try.
Art –Global Goals
Below is a picture of the Global Goals logo:
This logo represents the 17 goals all together in a circle. Your challenge is to design your own logo
for Global Goals.
School ChallengeArt Challenge from Mrs Kerr. Please see under
this grid for details.

Your task is attached to the bottom of the grid.
Mrs Conway has asked that if you attempt any of these activties and want to share your learning
(whether that is a picture of a piece of work or just a comment on what you discussed or enjoyed) she has
put her email address for you to send it to.
Something Fun (Optional)
Here is an origami car tutorial. You can change the speed of the video to slow it down to make it
easier to follow:

Literacy Task-Fact or Opinion?
Numeracy - Extension Activities1. Try this game. You need to reorder the bricks from smallest to largest. It is quite tricky
because if you don’t start with the smallest number, all of the bricks will fall!
http://ictgames.com/rangeArranger/
2. Complete the sentences below using any correct number.
RE Task
Say the Hail Mary prayer and reflect on what the words mean.
Can you fill in the blanks using the word bank to help you? Write it out neatly in your jotter.Draw a picture of Mary too!
You can also design your own May altar at home if you wish and take a picture for us to see!
St Ninian’s Take on Storm
Learning Intention:Create an image of ‘Storm’ using materials from your environment.
Click on the video clip below to learn more about Storm the Marionette puppet that visited Scotland earlier this year. (Once you have clicked on the link you might need to scroll down and click on the tile named ‘Storm’ to access the video)
https://visionmechanics.org/#about
Challenge details:You can use any type of materials/media to create your image of Storm. For example:
Use junk from around your house (empty cartons, boxes, bottles, empty toilet paper rolls etc) Paint a picture Draw a picture Use the computer Build with lego Use sticks, leaves, mud, sand
These are just a few ideas you can do whatever you wish.Your image can be 2D, 3D, life-size, created out in the garden. There are no limits to your creativity!
If you have a sibling in the house you might want to team up with them and create together or even with your adult.
Below is my son Noah with his Storm picture. He was very lucky to go and visit Storm earlier this year in Glasgow. We drew around his body and then used lots of junk to create her body and lots of feathers and pom poms as he wanted to make her very colourful.
I hope you have as much fun as we did creating Storm. Please e-mail me a copy of your picture to
kathryn.kerr@westlothian .org.uk as I would love to see your creations and tweet your picture.
Have fun!
Mrs Kerr
