We are learning to answer literal and inferential questions about a text. We are learning to spell words that use a hyphen. We are learning to create and write an informative text using facts and information. We are learning to plan our writing to improve the quality and accuracy. Task: Reading Comprehension & Listening and Talking Reading Challenge Read for enjoyment for at least 20 minutes each day Read - “Birds in your Garden” and then answer the comprehension questions in your ‘work-from-home’ jotter or use the worksheet provided. Spicy: Read: The ‘Dogs Run Riot at School’ Reading Challenge Card Retrieve and record information/ identify key details. Predict what might happen from the text/explain and justify inferences with evidence from the text. We have shared sentence starters to get you started this week. Practice these words using a spelling task from your ‘work from home’ jotter. Discus these with a family member/ guardian and record these in your jotter. Have a parent quiz you on the spelling of these words and record your score. Talisman words: Adverbs Adverbs are verbs which describe actions. Task: Welcome to Troon Leaflet Alongside our topic ‘Old Troon’ we will be completing research which we can use to create a leaflet to encourage tourists to visit Troon. This writing task will be completed over a 3 week period, to ensure time and quality. Week 1: Plan your leaflet and consider what you would like to focus on i.e. the attractions of Troon, the history or leisure. Consider how many pages your leaflet will have, the layout and the information you will need to research. This activity may be completed using a word document or as a PowerPoint. Pupils should log on to Microsoft Teams on the final week, week ending Friday the 1 st of June to share their leaflets. Week 1 Can you come up with a name for your clan/tribe? Once you have decided this can you design a line drawing of a Coat of Arms for your clan/tribe? (Some templates have been provided for ideas)
