Dear students,
Summer Vacations are fun, frolic and not waking up to an alarm clock.
However utilize the rest of your time in a constructive way to enable you
to keep in touch with your school routine.
These tips will make your vacation productive, enjoyable, and stress-free.
• Make a schedule to complete your daily tasks.
• Maintain good health and hygiene: Summer is a great time to be
and stay in shape. Eat good food, enjoy the seasonal fruits, keep cool
and stay healthy .Consider joining a summer camp, or at the very
least go outside to the park and have fun every day.
• If you love languages, try and learn a new language.
• Practice handwriting, make a photo album of the places you visit
during the vacation and share them with us when you come back.
• Study-Keeping in touch with academics is essential even though the
school year is in recess. Follow a routine. When school resumes, you
will be grateful that your academic knowledge and skills have not
deteriorated but rejuvenated.
• REVISE all the chapters in all the subjects for the Periodic I
Assessment.
• Check the school website for the Date sheet and syllabus of Periodic
I assessment.
• Session 2018-19 is being celebrated as “Maths and English Year”.
Complete the Mathematics and English homework assigned (given
below).
• Do one of the Maths activity given below according to your roll no.
ROLL NUMBER ASSIGNMENT 1-5 SEQUENCE NUMBERS
6-10 HEAD FULL OF NUMBERS
11-15 DARA
16-20 FRACTION PUZZLES
21-25 EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS – MISSING
NUMERATOR GAME
26 AND ABOVE OPERATIONS ON THE NUMBER LINE
1. SEQUENCE NUMBERS
• There are 60 cards and each card has an addition/subtraction/multiplication/division
equation on it. Note: the answers to all these equations must be present on the game
board. Example: If you have a card with the equation 17+5, then you must have the
number 23 on the game board.
• The game board has the answers to all the 60 operations in a random order; the cards will
only have the equations, without the answer.
• The player picks a card without looking, and has to match the card to its correct answer
on the board, and then place one of their chips there.
• When a player has 3 chips in a row, they've got a
SEQUENCE!
2. HEAD FULL OF NUMBERS
There is a hollow head, with 6 dice.
Each dice has 6 digits on it (one on each face). Make sure all the digits from 0-9 are
included at least once across all the dice. All the dice are placed inside the head.
The player shakes the head, and rolls the dice out of it. There would be 6 digits on the
six rolled dice as a result.
The player can use addition, subtraction, multiplication and/or division to make a
correct equation using these digits, and write it on a blank slip. Each correct equation
is a WIN

3. DARA
This centuries-old game is traditionally played by the Dakarkari people in what is now
the Sokota State region of Nigeria.
The game consists of a 6X5 grid on a board, and 12 pieces each of two different colors.
Players take turns placing their pieces on the board, and then move the pieces in an
attempt to form rows of three.
When a player forms a row of three, they get to remove one of the opponent's pieces.
The first player to remove three pieces of the opponent would be the winner.
Watch the video for understanding the game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pEY9MUYibU#action=share
4. FRACTION PUZZLES
There are small fraction puzzles (four pieces in each puzzle) and all of them are
placed in a box (jumbled up).
Suggestion: The puzzle pieces can be created using thick drawing sheets or cardboard
The player then picks out four matching pieces to complete one such puzzle. A
correctly completed puzzle is a win.
5. EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS – MISSING NUMERATOR GAME
The game consists of a board similar to snakes and ladder in which you have
random boosters to skip a few steps and random bites which make a player go back
to a certain position.
There are cards which have expressions of equivalent fractions written on them.
Each card has a missing numerator.
The player has to pick a card without looking and tell the missing numerator. The
missing numerator is the number of steps the player’s piece moves on the board.
The player to reach home first, or the player who is ahead of the others at the end
of the game, is the winner.
6. OPERATIONS ON THE NUMBER LINE
The game consists of a king size number line which can be spread on the floor.
The game has flash cards with addition, subtraction or division operations on them.
A card will be drawn randomly and whichever operation comes up, will be
demonstrated on the king size number line.
Note: 1. Make sure the result of all the operations fit within the number line you
prepare.
2. The flash cards must contain a mix of all three operations (only one operation
per card)
English homework
Read story books and poetry (age appropriate) to develop your sense of
poetry and extend your vocabulary. Get into habit of using dictionaries
whenever required. As a part of the ISA project for class VI, complete the
following worksheets based on stray animals. Present the work on A4 size
sheets (preferably coloured copies.)

The Stray Puppy Story By: Judie Eberhardt
Lisa was sleeping when suddenly she heard a small
whimpering noise outside her window. I wonder what’s
making that noise, she thought to herself. Lisa got out of
bed and saw a small brown puppy sitting under her
window. “Mom,” yelled Lisa. “There’s a puppy outside
the bedroom window, and it’s crying.” Mom and Lisa
went outside to take a look and saw the cute, but very
scared, puppy sitting on the grass next to mom’s
rosebushes. “She looks hungry,” said Mom. “Let’s give her something to eat.” Mom and Lisa had some dog food on the shelf in the garage from when
their dog, Roger, was with them. Roger had been sick for a long time. The puppy ate the food
and drank some water. Her whimpering had stopped.
Mom told Lisa to see if the puppy had a collar that might tell them where she lived.
There wasn’t any collar.” “We can’t let her stay outside,” said Lisa. Mom agreed, and they
brought the puppy inside for the day. “I think we need to make some posters and place them
around the neighborhood,” said Mom. Lisa agreed, and they put six posters around the busiest
parts of town. Three days went by and no one called or stopped by to claim the puppy. Mom
said to Lisa, “I think someone didn’t want the puppy and decided to let her go hoping someone
would take her in.” “That’s terrible!” said Lisa. “How can someone do something like that?”
“Can we keep her if no one calls about her?” “Let’s see what happens in the next few days,”
said Mom. Two weeks passed, and no one called about the puppy. “I think we had better name
this cute puppy,” said Mom. “Any ideas?” Lisa thought for a while and finally said, “Let’s
name her Rosy.” “Why Rosy?” asked mom. Lisa said, “When I first saw her, she was by the
rosebushes outside.” “What a clever name,” said Mom. “Rosy it is.” That day, Mom and Lisa went to the store and bought Rosy a leash, a puppy bed, some toys, and a cute sweater
for those chilly days ahead. Lisa played with Rosy every day and went for walks in the park.
Lisa loved giving Rosy a bath because she splashed water everywhere.
“I know it wasn’t a nice thing to do leaving Rosy, but I’m glad she was left by our
house,” said Lisa. Mom and Lisa had talked about getting another dog after Roger, but didn’t
expect to get one this way. “I’m glad too,” said Mom. “Rosy is a very cute dog
