General Safety

• First Aid Tent• Reunification Tent (Operations/Volunteer)• Each tent will be given a radio to use on-site for internal communication.

You may be asked to monitor conversations while you’re volunteering. • Radio protocol: • Listen, then speak • Identify who you are and who you’re calling twice

• Things You Can Relay to the Public • Please respect the boundaries of the field. If you want to fly a kite, and

have not entered a competition, please fly on the Public Field. • Walkways are “No Fly Zones” • Recycling and trash: Everyone’s help is needed! • Visit the National Cherry Blossom Festival Information Tent

Lost Child Pol icy

If a child self-reports they are lost or if we identify a child that is lost, they should be taken to the

reunification tent (Operations/Volunteer tent)

Preparing for the Event

• Please check the weather before your shift!

• Wear close toed-shoes, jeans and your volunteer shirt as your outermost layer of clothing.

• Only all day volunteers will receive a complimentary lunch. We will have a few snacks and water available at the Festival Operations tent, but please plan for meals if you are only working one shift.

Getting There

• Please use public transportation if possible. ‒ Metro: Smithsonian (Blue/Orange), Farragut North

• Parking in this area is extremely limited!

• Parking garages are located within walking distance.

When You Arrive

• Check in at the Festival Operations tent

• If this is the first event you’re volunteering for we will provide a shirt to you on-site.

• Please arrive at the exact times we’ve specified. We’re counting on you!

• If you’re the first shift at a tent, help the lead with set-up.

When You Leave

• Please check out from the Operations Tent.• Make sure to update the volunteer who is there to relieve

you.• If you are the last shift at one of the tents, please help pack

up your materials and return supplies to Operations, assist with trash collection in your area etc.

• Break down will need to recover signage, remove field stakes, and ropes
