We are delighted with an extremely strong set of GCSE results from our Year 11 students, representing one of our best ever years in attainment achieved within a highly inclusive culture. Considering all the changes, whilst it is very difficult to compare year on year, the GCSE results at Beal High School have improved upon last year's results with 10% more students achieving 5 or more good grades including English and Maths (81%). Students and staff have worked hard in an unsettling environment in order to achieve these excellent results. The overall Attainment 8 score has improved on last year from 53.4 in 2016 to 55.8 this year. English and Maths have performed exceptionally well at every level. This means that 82.8% of our students have achieved a good pass in English and Maths (4+). This represents a 10% increase on last year. Some good news stories:

• The number of students achieving an A*/A in Maths and English, was well above the 2016 National average - with 48.4% of our students achieving A*/A in Maths (NA 16%).

• Amongst that, an amazing 12% of our students achieved a 9 in Maths and 6% achieving a 9 in English.

• 89% of students achieved a good pass (4+) in English – this is well above the national average (74% in 2016)

• 30 (13%) of our students achieved A/A* in 8 or more subjects • 10 students achieved at least 10 A*/A

Students who have achieved exceptional results, with each gaining 10 or more A*/A grades (or 7-9) include: BUTLER Niamh CHAUDHRY Yusuf HUSSAIN Amana JASIMUDDIN Ziyad JHUREE Rohan MUSHTAQ Shenel NARBHERAM Anjali SHARMA Megha SHARMA Nikhil SULEMAN Hamza We estimate that our “Progress 8” score will be strongly positive when this comes out in the Autumn. Progression

• 202/213 (95%) of all those that applied to Beal High School 6th form were given an offer at Beal

• 86.7% placed at Beal High School (in 2014, 36% stayed in school 6th form Nationally, Beal = 79%)

• Currently all other students have places in further education colleges/6th form colleges. This will need to be verified in September.

TFA attainment in English and maths has increased by 7% on the previous year’s measure.

We are delighted with the GCSE results achieved from our Year 11 students, which is just reward for all the hard work, support and commitment shown by our students, staff and parents. Considering all the changes, whilst it is very difficult to compare year on year, the GCSE results at The Forest Academy in most areas have improved, with a 7% increase in the number of students awarded a grade 4 (C) or above in both English and Maths. The overall Attainment 8 score has dropped slightly from 45.14 to 44.36 but was expected due to out inclusive curriculum, which places student progression above headline figures. 100% of our students have progression pathways into post 16 education with the majority of our students remaining in the TFA 6th form. Some good news stories:

• The number of students achieving a grade 7-9 (A*/A) in Maths and English, has increased from the previous year to 10.7%.

• Amongst that, 4% of our students achieved a grade 9 in English and 2% achieving a grade 9 in Maths.

• 10 (7%) of our students achieved A/A* in 8 or more subjects

Students who have achieved exceptional results, with each gaining 8 or more A*/A grades (or 7-9) include: Megan Batten Hebah Gheedan Sana Kamaran Jack Lewthwaite Ouens Maksvits Riaz Mannan Bodrun Nahar Sheikh Kainat Shafiq Sophia Tanushi Tasmiya Tasmi We estimate that our “Progress 8” score will be positive when this data is released in the Autumn term.
