By reporting an interesting space users enable the City of Vancouver to implement temporary barriers and space-makers that encourage the entry of all pedestrians. This in turn creates a community presence that promotes creative walking and encourages entry to ambiguous public spaces. By effectively rebranding the construction site aesthetic, the Public Exploration Spaces barrier is an entry point that plays with common perceptions of public access. The anti-barrier strategically reiterates the conventional barrier demonstrating a fundamental application of détournement. In doing so, the Debordian spectacle is subverted in this piece of societal design.
