We had our second of three Kindergarten orientation sessions yesterday and Mrs Ferguson reports that it went exceptionally well. We are learning a lot about our newest Boambee students. Our third session is our longest with our Kinder Go Day taking place on Thursday 17th November. A note was sent home this week calling for nominations from our Year 5 students who would like to be one of our elected leaders next year. (School Captain and Vice Captain) Students nominating will participate in a leadership course prior to making their speeches so they know the expectations of elected school leaders. We provide many opportunities for our students to develop their leadership skills and I’m looking forward to working with our leaders again in 2017. We had a Year 6 Graduation/Farewell meeting last night and I am pleased to advise that the organisation is well underway. Thank you to the parents for coming along and volunteering your time - a real team effort! We are moving forward with our implementation of PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) and will be able to share more information in the coming weeks. Ms Adams and Mrs Ferguson have been leading the reinvigoration of this program at Boambee. Our technology is also being updated at the moment. Our wifi should become more reliable and be able to support more devices. We are currently in the process of purchasing more ipads and laptops and we will be able to use our technology more readily as an educational tool to support the education of your children. All staff will be participating in whole day workshops in week 6 of this term to ensure their expertise in technology is increased. All staff continued to analyse assessment data at our staff meeting this week and is using that data to plan effective teaching and learning programs for all children. The staff at Boambee is committed to providing a quality education to all children. What a great team to be part of! Have a great weekend! • A Big Boambee Welcome! Welcome April and Jakai. April has joined 2S and Jakai has joined 1W. It is wonderful to have you and your families join our Boambee School Community. Permission Note and Payment Letter Box Boambee Public School now has a ‘Permission Note and Payment’ Letter Box. Permission Notes and Payments are to be deposited into the letter box upon arrival at school. It will be checked at 10.30am. Bank books will continue to be put in the green tub at the Canteen on Thursday mornings and absent notes are to be given to the classroom teacher. This change is to help with our “No Interruptions Policy”. “Day for Daniel!” “Day for Daniel” at our school this year was very successful. We raised $761.05. Thank you to our Boambee school community for their wonderful donations.

Year 3 and 4 Bongil Bongil National Park Excursion

On Wednesday Stage 2 students visited Bongil Bongil National Park to study the structure of the railway bridge and to use our knowledge of bridges to design a footbridge to the other side of Bonville Creek. We walked from Lyons Road through to the bridge and then to the picnic area. Mr Walsh celebrated his birthday by cooking over 200 sausages for our lunch, which was delicious. We observed and sketched the creek area, sketched a sound map and played some games in the warm sunshine. At the end of the day we were thirsty and tired, but we had enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thankyou Mr Walsh and Mr Clem for cooking our lunch.
