January 14, 2016 Conference Call: Jack Geller, Stuart Laake Present: Committee Chair Elliott Stern Coalition Staff: Lindsay Carson

I. CALL TO ORDER A quorum was present. Committee Chair Elliott Stern called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m.

A. Committee Chair Stern called for approval of the agenda for the January 14, 2016.

A motion was made by Jack Geller and seconded by Stuart Laake to: Approve the January 14, 2016 agenda.

The motion passed unanimously.

B. Committee Chair Elliott Stern called for approval of the August 31, 2015 minutes.

A motion was made by Jack Geller and seconded by Stuart Laake to:

Approve the August 31, 2015 minutes.

The motion passed unanimously.

II. Action Items

A. Officer Nominations 16.01.01B

Elliott Stern presented the background for the approval of the Officer Nominations. Board members may serve up to two (2) consecutive four (4) year terms. The following Coalition Board member will reach the end of their first term in March 2016. The member has agreed to serve an additional term, March 2016 – March 2020. Board Development Committee Meeting Minutes January 14, 2016 – Approved

A motion was made by Jack Geller and seconded by Stuart Laake to:

Approve renewing Yvonne Malague term to March 2020.

The motion passed unanimously.

III. DISCUSSION A. Recruitment

Lindsay Carson informed the committee; Phillip Russell has expressed interest in Governor Appointment to the ELC Board of Directors. Lindsay Carson suggested the committee to consider how to broaden the diversity of the Board of Director’s and have greater representation for the entire county. Lindsay Carson will request a recommendation for new members from the St. Petersburg Chamber.

III. PUBLIC COMMENT In accordance with the Florida Government in the Sunshine, all meetings of the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas County, Inc. and its committees are open to the public. September 1, 2016 Subject: Approval of Private Sector Business Board Representative

BACKGROUND

The Coalition Bylaws state: (1) More than one-third of the Early Learning Coalition Board of Directors must be private-sector business members who do not have, and none of whose relatives as defined in s. 112.3143 has, a substantial financial interest in the design or delivery of the Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program or the coalition’s school readiness program.

BACKGROUND The Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas County, Inc. Bylaws state the Executive Officers will change during the annual meeting of the Coalition to be held during the first quarter of the fiscal year. Officers may serve in the same position for a maximum of two consecutive years with the exception of the Governor-appointed chair.
