Carlmont Parents Nursery School Board Members 2020-2021

Jim Blomo, Board PresidentCPNS has been an integral part of our family for almost four years now. Both of our kids have grown here thanks to the supportive teachers and parents; both my wife and I have learned so much thanks to the Workshops; and my own parents have had a blast covering workdays and becoming part of the community. I’m humbled to serve as President for such a well-established institution. My goals are to give families, teachers, board members, and our community the environment they need to thrive; and to find and welcome other families that believe in our values and commitments. I believe we can continue to grow the CPNS community by adapting to the challenges we face, and advocating for the benefits of play-based, community learning.

Carlmont Parents Nursery School Board of Director Bios 2020-2021

Marcia Molina, VP OperationsThis will be our second year at CPNS, we started in 2-day and are very excited to start in 3-day. From the first time I stepped into the school, I felt welcomed and knew this was going to be a great journey not just for Sebastian, but for myself as well. I had never heard of a co-op preschool before and the chance to be part of his growth process just resonated with me. I enjoy being part of his discoveries, smiles, tears and everything in between. The big bonus for me is being able to have a resource in our teachers and other parents to help in the difficult times and technique to being a better parent. Which will be a lifelong journey, but I plan to conquer it. I look forward to helping the school succeed by being part of the Board as VP of Operations.


Kim Marar, VP MembershipOur family will be starting our third year at CPNS with our daughter Lucy. We’ve been in the 3-day class for the past two years. Lucy has grown in many ways, and feels very at home at CPNS as does our whole family. I’m so glad that our family discovered CPNS when we moved to Belmont. It was wonderful to immediately plug into such a warm, caring and stimulating environment. I appreciate that the co-op model gives me the opportunity to learn new parenting skills and to be right there alongside my daughter as she makes friends and discovers her world. I enjoyed being on the board last year as VP – Membership and having the opportunity to introduce our lovely school to many new families. I also have a son entering 1st grade this fall and enjoy baking, knitting, gardening and traveling when I can find the time.Carlmont Parents Nursery School Board of Director Bios 2020-2021

Alana Foley, CPNS SecretaryThis will be our second year (but our first full year) at CPNS. Our son, Liam, joined the 3-day class this past February. Although he joined the class a little young – at 2 years and 4 months old – and had never been in the care of anyone outside of our immediate family, it was clear that he quickly felt at home at CPNS and was always so excited to go to school. He has already developed strong attachments to his teachers and classmates, and has grown so much over these past few months in how he understands and expresses his emotions. My husband and I have also learned a lot from our involvement with this community, which has become a guiding light as we learn to navigate parenthood. Altogether, this has been a very exciting new chapter for our family, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute by serving on the Board as Secretary.


Ling Han, CPNS Treasurer This will be our 2nd year at CPNS with Evan. He started at CPNS with the 5-day program. From a non-stop crying kid to a school-loving one, Evan has been enjoying CPNS with all the teachers there. He is always excited to go to school and loves to talk about what he did for the day. Not only for Evan, our whole family is growing, learning and making new friends here. We are all developing parenting skills and are proud of what we have done. I am thrilled to join the Board and have this opportunity to commit to the objective of CPNS. I also have a daughter, who will be in 7th grade this Fall, and we are all eager for this coming Fall at CPNS.


Elizabeth Feig, Fundraising Co-ChairWe will be starting our fourth year at CPNS, this time with Everett who I was pregnant with when Lydia started in the 2-day class. It’s bittersweet as Lydia will be going to Kindergarten and will miss CPNS so much. I love how much we have all grown and learned during our time here. I owe so much of Lydia’s confidence, creativity, and friendships to CPNS’ play-based environment. I’m excited to begin again alongside Everett and meet new families. This will be my third year on the Board as Fundraising Chair. It’s been a great opportunity to be even more involved in my children’s education, and discover my strengths and weaknesses.


Amy Hua, Fundraising Co-ChairThis is our fourth year at CPNS. Our family is so honored to be a part of the CPNS community. The teachers and parents are so supportive and friendly. We feel right at home.Andrew can't wait to be back to school this fall. I am excited to join the board and look forward to returning to CPNS, contributing as co-fundraising chair.


Ana, Community ChairThis will be our family’s second year at CPNS with our daughter, Alexandra (Alex), who is joining the 3-day class. Austin (Alex’s dad) also attended CPNS when he was a child, so it’s a bit of a reunion! Alex has grown in many ways since she began at CPNS and is excited for school and seeing her friends! It has been wonderful to attend a co-op for our first preschool experience where the teachers and community are so invested in the overall well-being and education of the children and parents. I am excited to join the Board and contribute to the mission of CPNS.


Shannon Guzzetta, Alumni After six years at CPNS, I couldn’t bear to say goodbye though both kids will be in elementary school. I was pregnant with my daughter, Savannah, when my son Joshua started in 2-day. Our time here has been challenging, happy and so memorable! My whole family is so comfortable here, it feels like our home away from home and we have learned, explored and accomplished so much. I’ve been a fundraiser, president and council representative. I am passionate about play based learning, early childhood education, and community building. I’m also PTA President at Redwood Shores Elementary School, on the board of Redwood Shores Community Association as Editor of their monthly newsletter, The PILOT, and I’m a runner. I am happy to serve the board as an alumni to help CPNS stay successful. I look forward to getting to know new members and making more memories with friends. For 2020, I’m re-enrolling Savannah in the 4-day class so she has an opportunity to PLAY in-person at our wonderful facility.
