From the Artistic DirectorThe Sheldon College Winter Brass School is an opportunity for developing brass students to share and engage their love for music with others who share their passion. The Winter Brass School will be focused on developing the musicianship and technique of the students, whilst continuing to nurture their enjoyment of music through tutorials, master classes, rehearsals and concerts.

The Winter Brass School will be facilitated and run in conjunction with Sheldon College and esteemed local brass quintet BoB – Best of Brass. My vision for the Winter Brass School is to encourage the students to feel passionate about the art of brass performance and repertoire, and to instil confidence in all students involved. I would like to thank Sheldon College and BoB – Best of Brass for their support and eagerness in making such an important program possible for young brass artists.Looking forward to seeing you there!Bob Schultz

Bob Schultz Artistic Director/ TrumpetAs one of the leading jazz and crossover trumpet soloists in Australia, Bob has appeared nationally and internationally with groups and artists such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, Bill Watrous, The Black Sorrows, The Saints, Frankie Vallie, Tom Burlinson, Wilson “Saoko” Monyama, Jimmy Barnes, Queensland Symphony Orchestra including the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular. As well as festivals including Falls Festival, Bellingen Global Music Carnival, Woodford Folk Festival, QMF, Sydney Salsa Congress and a huge number of the country’s finest jazz festivals. Bob is also a member of Brisbane‑based group Chukale and featured on their latest album ‘Expedition’ with the legends of Cuba (members from the Buena Vista Social Club and The afro Cuban‑all‑stars). Bob is actively involved in education through the Queensland Conservatorium and Sheldon College and can regularly be found giving workshops and masterclasses around the country. Bob Schultz is a Bach Artist.

BoB – Best of BrassBoB’s repertoire includes everything from the classical to the contemporary, the ancient to the modern, carefully selected or arranged by members of the group to reach the ultimate goal: enjoy ourselves by delighting you! BoB was founded in early 2008 with the aim to bring the best of brass to audiences in Queensland, Australia, and around the world. Its members, Bob Schultz and Nathan Schilling on trumpets, Armin Terzer on horn, Greg Aitken on trombone and Samuel Nolan on bass trombone, have combined experience spanning all continents, including many of the major concert stages.Besides its acclaimed concert series at St Andrews South Brisbane, BoB, in collaboration with Musica Viva, is actively involved in educational work throughout Queensland. Highlights of BoB’s previous engagements are a 2013 concert tour to China, Ensemble in Residence at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University 2011‑2013, and appearances at several Queensland universities, Tyalgum Festival of Music, Brisbane Music Festival, QBOC, ASME, and Maryborough Music Conference.
