This directory has been developed using multiple state sources (Oregon, Texas, Michigan, Main, and others), books, news articles, and Google searches to compile a list of records counterfeiters and diploma mills from across the world for your enjoyment. To paraphrase Allen Ezell, the former FBI agent in charge of Dip-Scam, some of these “institutions” may be recognized as legitimate or semi-legitimate in some circles and by some organizations, but none are currently recognized as legitimate by the US Department of Education to the best of my knowledge. Once again paraphrasing Allen Ezell, about the best you can say for most of them is that they are really, really, really bad schools! Most “institutions” actively listed in the directory have been in operation in the last nine years or are still in operation today, but a few are golden oldies which are listed solely because they are mentioned somewhere in one of my many fraud presentations. I have recently added new sections on “closed colleges” and bogus high schools. I continue to list the closed colleges in the directory for two main reasons:
1. Paper from these “institutions” is still in general circulation. 2. Many of these “institutions” are like hydras, closed in one
state/country only to rise like a Phoenix from the ashes in another state/country with the same name, a new name, or a slightly altered name.

Bogus Accreditation
One of the latest trends is for the bogus schools to create their own accrediting agencies
and then accredit themselves being sure to list legitimate schools as well as their own to
make themselves appear legitimate. To date I have encountered over 200 bogus
accrediting bodies. None of these are approved by the U.S. Department of Education and
their ‘accreditation” is therefore meaningless. Note: This is not even an attempt at a
complete list, but it gives you some concept of the scope of the problem. Some of the
