The 11th grade WestchesterAcademy team placed 2nd in the

state Odyssey of the Mindcompetition for Problem 5: Furs,Fins, Feathers & Friends Division

3!

They will be representingTexas at The OM World

Finals Competition at IowaState University in May!

Three 7th graders participating ona team comprised of WAIS,

Cornerstone, and Spring BranchMiddle School will also be

competing at the World Finals. Their team was awarded

the Ranatra Fusca Award, given toteams or individuals who display

tremendous creativity, risk-taking,and out-of-the-box thinking at

competition.

1. Why is there a dance?The 8th grade dance is an event forthe children to celebrate the end ofmiddle school in a fun way withtheir school friends. The middleschool year end celebrationconsists of a formal ceremonyfollowed by the dance.

2. Who can attend?All 8th graders are invited andencouraged to attend the dancefollowing the graduation ceremony

8. Who will supervise the childrenduring the dance?Teachers will supervise thechildren and a few parentvolunteers.

9. My child says he /she doesn'twant to go to the dance?Your child is not the only one. This is a typical response(especially from boys), and willprobably change as we get closerto the date.
