Discussion Questions

1) Katy is a bibliophile and not very

outgoing. Do you think she

would have had trouble making

friends if it weren’t for her next

door neighbors?

2) If Katy could read Obsidian what

do you think she would think

about the female protagonist?

3) Do you think Katy should have

noticed her neighbors powers

much sooner?

4) What do you think of Katy’s

relationship with her mother? Is

it believable? If yes why? If no

why not?

5) I know we don’t know of any

alien life form, however, do the

aliens in this book seem

believable?

6) Do you think Katy should have

told her mom what was going on?

How do you think Katy’s mom

would react?

7) What do you think happened

toward the end of the book when

Daemon’s and Dee’s powers both

seem to jump into Katy?

8) What do you think Daemon did to

Katy when he healed her and why

didn’t Daemon want his sister to

know what had happened?

9) Where do you see Daemon and

Katy’s relationship going? Why?

10) Would you have ended the book

differently? Why or why not?

What changes would you have

made?

11) Would you recommend this book

to anyone? Why or why not?

How would you describe the

book?

the series? Why or why not?

WEBSITES TO CHECK

OUT

What’s it all about? Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd

pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy Internet

access, and a whole lot of boring . . . until I spotted my hot

neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things

were looking up. And then he opened his mouth. Daemon is

infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all.

But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time

with a wave of his hand, well, something . . . unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien.

Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting

to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the

Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by

sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill

him first, that is.
