BECKER BULLETINHLA Heart Dance!

For this month’s Parent Involvement Night, we will be having our Healthy Learning Academy Heart Dance! This event will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. While 1 in every 4 deaths are related to heart disease, when people make healthy choices and manage their health conditions, it can be prevented!

In celebration of National Heart Month, come join us and dance for a healthy heart as we raise awareness about preventing heart disease. For anyone looking to earn volunteer hours, we’d love some help with cooking that day from 12:45-1:45. Please email me if available!wareness about preventing heart disease..

The Week In Review Miscellaneous

SS: We just finished Ch. 4 on Colonial Life, and will probably be testing Monday. ELA: This week, we focused on writing. We reviewed the FSA writing rubric, saw some samples, and went over strategies.Math: We’re on Ch. 8 which deals with fractions and decimals. Make sure to practice those times tables! Science: We’re almost done with weather and the water cycle, so plan on a test next week!Word of the Week:Our word of the week was “impression.” When we make an impression, we often stand out from others in a memorable way. People often say, “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” Therefore, always be polite and treat others the way you’d like to be treated.

Toys:Personal toys, such as fidget spinners and Pokemon cards, are a distraction in the classroom. Please check your child’s bag to ensure they’re not being brought to school.

Citizen of the Week:Our Citizen of the Week for this past week, February 18th through the 22nd, was Nayomi Paul. She is a consistently hard worker, and can always be counted upon to do the right thing. Nayomi joins Vidhu Verma and Nehyssa Turenne as our previous winners!

For Monday, students should neatly write and mark each of the following words with large, legible print on the index cards sent home today.
