So what is a Booktalk?

Booktalks are conversations about stories.

Page 3: Book talks

You & your students will use story sequence maps to organize story events for booktalks that you will create using slides & audio.

Page 4: Book talks

Booktalks enable students to relate story events in sequence, to perceive structure in literature, and increase comprehension of the literature.

Why?

Page 5: Book talks

First have the students select and read books.

Page 6: Book talks

Students fill out the story sequence papers identifying the beginning, middle, and end of the story. (You may use any story sequence chart you like)

Page 7: Book talks

Students locate three pictures that portray the story sequence. They may create their own pictures at Sumo Paint, Dabbleboard, or Sketch & Paint, scan their own pictures if you have a scanner, or find pictures online at Pics4LearningThey may print ONE photo here at BCA
