Book Week Parade: Last Friday, we held our annual Book Week

Parade. The students and their costumes looked amazing. A lot of thought and effort went into the costumes. Students shared books with their families during munch n’ crunch before a shared morning tea was enjoyed by all. Between recess and lunch, students participated in a number of interactive literacy activities. A hot dog lunch was very popular with everyone. In the afternoon the students watched the movie Ink Heart.

Dental Van: For the last fortnight, we have been very fortunate to have the dental van visiting our

school. We were the first school in this area to have access to this very valuable health service. This program was initiated by NSW Health. All the children have had the opportunity to visit the van, with many having work done on their teeth. The dental staff complimented all of our children on their manners and positive attitudes towards healthy teeth. The children made a card poster for the ladies to show their appreciation. This was presented to the staff by our school captains Aliya and Kalin. Thank you to all of the dental staff.

Surf Lifesaving Education: Last Wednesday, James from Surf Lifesaving NSW visited our

school to talk to the children about water safety. This is a very valuable activity with the beaches and the river so close at hand. The children learnt about the warning signs displayed at beaches, rips in the water and swimming between the flags. There is a new phone app where we are able to check beach conditions and rips. Thank you to Surf Lifesaving for this timely and engaging annual visit.

Trek 4 Kids: Today, we had 60 plus

people in their decorated cars visiting our school on behalf of the Starlight Children's Foundation. The children were entertained by a couple of Trekkers dressed as super heroes and police officers. The children were invited to inspect the cars and learn about the Starlight Children's Foundation and its purpose. Each child was given a sample bag of goodies. The Trekkers enjoyed a morning tea provided by the school before heading off to their next destination.

Building Works: For anyone who has visited our school within the last fortnight, you will have

noticed all the building work activity going on. We have been extremely busy moving things and reorganising our classes to accommodate all the building works that are currently underway. Mr Keane’s room has had walls replaced and been painted throughout. Mrs Deicke’s room (library) has had walls replaced, new carpet and been painted extensively. Next week, the library roof is being replaced. Our main administration block has been painted throughout. New concrete has been laid. New soccer goal posts have been installed on the oval. The weather shed has been bought back to life with a fresh coat of paint. For anyone who has had renovations done, they will understand how hectic and disruptive this can be. We are hoping to have everything back to normal by the end of next week. All this work has been Government funded.

Happy Birthday
