1. CONTEXT

1.1 BoostAero standards

Boost Aero standards are the global e-Supply Chain standards applicable in the ‘Aerospace & Defence’ industry. They cover exchanges between clients and suppliers in the field of procurement and logistics (procurement plan, delivery programme, orders, advice of despatch, acceptance, invoices) at Business Process, Semantics, Syntax and technical Architecture level.

These standards have been produced by following international best practices for standardisation and conform to UN/CEFACT standards. They are produced and maintained by BoostAero International. The founder of BoostAero are : the GIFAS (Groupement des Industries Française Aéronautiques et Spatiales – French Aerospace Industries Association), the ASD (AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe), the AIA (US Aerospace Industries Association), Exostar (commercial e-business trading exchange for the aerospace and defence industry) and major international companies and industries in the aerospace and defence sector.

1.2 The BoostAero International association (BAI)

The BoostAero International Association (BAI) is a non-profit association set up to oversee the upholding and advancement of BoostAero standards. BAI operates on the principle of an association of manufacturers, their number of votes corresponding to their contribution.

1.3 The BoostAero Universal Connector

The BoostAero universal connector is a tool that facilitates Professional Electronic Exchanges (PEE) also known as EDI (Échange de Données Informatisé), Machine to Machine (M2M) or A2A between manufacturers, in accordance with BoostAero standards.

1.4 The ERP/MRP

The ERP/MRP is a software that support Sales, Supply Chain and procurement process.

These procurement and SupplyChain Processes should be executed in accordance with BoostAero standards.

2. PRINCIPLE

2.1 Purpose of Certification

The purpose of certification is to provide a guarantee of BoostAero conformity of ERP/MRP. This is vital if manufacturers are to be able to make use of M2M with confidence with regard to partners conforming to BoostAero standards.

The certification will be provided on BuySide or on SellSide.

• SELLSIDE : This means receiving BoostAero messages (PO, Forecast, …) as a supplier and sending messages (PO response, Despatch Advice) as a supplier.

• BUYSIDE : This means sending BoostAero messages (PO, Forecast, …) as a customer to AirSupply or directly to a supplier and receiving messages (PO response, Despatch Advice) from AirSupply or from a supplier

Candidacy could be done only on one side or on BuySide and SellSide.

Certification also aims to ensure the quality of exchanges, the organisation of information circuits, the training and information of users.

There are two levels of certification

• Certification of conformity: guarantees that the product meets BoostAero standards, in a given version, it is issued after the conformity tests described in section 4 (four) of this document.

• BoostAero certification: guarantees that the product is to BoostAero standards and has been successfully used in a real M2M situation between two partners (client and supplier) with a given BoostAero version. This is issued once the product is in use by a manufacturer.

2.2 Certification body

BoostAero certification is issued by the certification commission of BoostAero International. The certification commission has the job of devising tests, auditing companies and issuing attestations of conformity and certifications. It reports to the Board of the BoostAero International Association (BAI).

2.3 Certification applicant

Any company that wanting to certify its product(s) in order to be able to market it as a BoostAero certified ERP/MRP.

2.4 Conditions

Certification is only open to BoostAero International members who have been pre-selected (based on the number of AeroSpace and Defence customers).

The company must therefore already be a member of the association (Active IT Member)

The annual BoostAero International subscription includes administration costs for the following services:

• Annual maintenance of an attestation of conformity

The annual BoostAero International subscription does not include Attestation of conformity and Product certification.

2.5 Public information

The list of manufacturers that have obtained an attestation of conformity or BoostAero certification is updated by BoostAero International and published on the association website.

The Attestation of conformity and the Certification are sent out to the holders bearing the logo "BoostAero Conformance” or "BoostAero Certified” respectively. This gives the holder the right to use the labels in any documentation concerning the connector.

3. THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS

3.1 The stages involved

The diagram below shows the various stages leading up to certification, and the preconditions (membership of the BoostAero international association) for certification (following use in a real situation).

The certification is delivered FOR A SET OF BOOSTAERO MESSAGES after 2 main steps :

- ATTESTATION of CONFORMITY if the product being tested meets all the requirements of the inspections 1 to 5

- CERTFICATION when the product is successfully installed in an operationnal environment

3.2 The Conformance Testing process

BoostAero architecture is based on ebXML.

Conformance testing takes place and includes the following 5 inspections:

• Inspection 1. Confirmation of conformity with regard to BoostAero processes and sub-processes,

• Inspection 2. Auditability of activities (could be covered by the certified connector)

• Inspection 3. Ability to integrate and display (in readable form) BoostAero XML instances in the product.

4. THE CONFORMANCE TESTING PROCESS Certification of the Product is performed by BoostAero International in accordance with the protocol described below. It takes place in 5 separate stages. An analysis report is drawn up for each stage, detailing any errors and inconsistencies that are detected.

The test phase comprises audit performed on the connector editor: Inspection N°1, N°2, N°3, N°4, N°5.

On the inspections 5, the company must send to BoostAero ([email protected]) the corresponding BoostAero XML instances.

There are 3 tests in the test phase: if the 3 tests are not conclusive, the company will be invited to have further training, for which it will be sent an invoice.

Similarly, if the audit is inconclusive, the company will be invited to undergo a further audit. It will be invoiced for the new audit.

Support is provided via email ([email protected]) but this is confined to assistance with understanding the method used for the conformance tests.

The BoostAero certification commission monitors all messages that are sent in. In the event of an error, the board informs the candidate by email that he needs to make a correction and reach error level 0 before he can move on to the next stage.

When there are no more errors and the audit is successful, the board draws up a test report certifying that the editor in question has passed the ‘BoostAero Conformance’ tests.

The test report is sent to the BoostAero Board by email.

Subject to approval by the Board, the ‘BoostAero Conformance’ attestation of conformity is awarded to the candidate.

Some functionalities of the tested tool (hereafter referred to as ‘optional functionalities’) are not considered to be obligatory. They are however part of the elements tested as they correspond to real requirements for certain users. A tool that did not have such functionalities may therefore be accredited and the additional functionalities provided by the tool will be listed on the occasion of attestation of conformity and certification.
