Official cOmmunity plan
After extensive community engagement over the past year, the Roberts Creek OCP review has reached a significant milestone with the SCRD Board giving the draft OCP second reading. The current draft has been updated to include many changes recommended by residents and agencies. The Board has scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday Oct. 2. There is still an opportunity to offer comments on the plan prior to the public hearing. Please contact David Rafael 604-885-6804 ext 4 or [email protected]. A copy of the draft plan showing the changes is available on the SCRD website at: www.scrd.ca/OCP-Reviews. Mark Tuesday Oct. 2, 7:00pm Roberts Creek Hall on your calendar so you can attend the public hearing and offer any further comments you may have. Comments may be made in writing if you cannot attend the public hearing as long as they are received prior to the closing of the hearing itself.

Cliff Gilker Park has a beautiful new covered picnic shelter next to the swings. This shelter is wheel chair accessible and will be outfitted with a wheel chair accessible picnic table. Perfect for a family picnic!
The next phase of this project is a children’s adventure play area next to the playing field. The SCRD has recently hired Susan Mason as our new Parks Planning Coordinator (replacing retiring Sheane Reid). One of Susan’s first tasks will be to work with interested community members to design and build a natural play structure at Cliff Gilker Park to replace the old metal slide that used to be there. Susan will be organizing a community meeting to be held in October. If you have ideas you would like to share before then please email [email protected] and please copy me as well.
Check out the recent improvements to the Blue Trail in Cliff Gilker Park. Thank you to Parks Staff, Michel Frenette, for a marvellous job creating beautiful bridges to keep walkers above the boggy areas. They are funky yet strong and respect the natural landscape.

public hEaring
On Thursday Sept 20, 6:30pm a Public Hearing will be held in the SCRD Board Room at the SCRD offices on Field Road regarding Bylaw No. 310.139. The intent of this bylaw is to amend Zoning Bylaw 310 in order to exclude 45 square metres of enclosed parking area (garages) from the calculation of the ratio of permitted floor area to lot size on small lots. This will mean that some properties which could not accommodate an enclosed garage will now be able to have one. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer comments on these changes. Check the SCRD website for more information.
