Procedure: From Roland EcoSol Max OEM ink* to Bordeaux Eco-solvent Ink (no need to flush): *In addition flushing is NOT needed if converting from Nazdar. Lyson, Solaris, and “20/20” inks

Before installation, run a nozzle test print and a standard test print to have as a reference point for comparison purposes. 1. Install the 440 ml Bordeaux ink cartridges and run two normal cleaning cycles (if you are in the “middle” of a print job start using immediately)2. Note: Dampers DO NOT have to be changed3. Run nozzle print.4. Begin running test prints and compare to standard test print. 5. There is no need to re-profile. It is better to start earlier in the day so the ink fills the entire system (best not to start the procedure on a Friday afternoon when it will sit all weekend).

Converting from OEM Inks

Procedure 2) From 3rd Party ink to Bordeaux Eco-solvent ink:1. Before installation, run a nozzle test print and a standard test print to have as a reference point for comparison purposes.2. In order to replace the cartridges, run a head wash; take out the third party ink cartridges. When the last cartridge is removed, the pumps will automatically remove the remaining ink from the lines.3. The display panel will read Cleaning Tools. Put in Bordeaux Flushing Fluid Cartridges. When the last cartridge is in the printer, the pumps will start circulating the Flushing Fluid to remove any 3rd party inks from the lines4. Remove the Flushing Cartridges, at this point the pumps will discharge any remaining Flushing Fluid from the lines and run a powerful clean cycle.5. Once the printer completes its head clean operation, introduce the Bordeaux ink cartridges 6. Select the “powerful clean” setting.7. Perform several head cleaning cycles to ensure the ink is ready.8. Run nozzle test print.9. Run prints to ensure that every print head is running perfectly. Compare with the print you made before changing the inks. Colors are likely to look different since the “original” print was made with a third party ink that did not match the reflective densities and color gamut of the OEM and the Bordeaux ink.10. If there are dropouts, run cleaning cycle and repeat it until a satisfactory print is obtained.

RMA’s -- Please contact Bordeaux with the “Ink Information” (as above), a brief description of the problem, name of customer, location. Let us know the urgency level of your customer. We may request a jpg or the cartridge returned to us. We will issue an RMA number. After receiving this information (or the actual cartridge) and resolving the problem, a credit memo will be issued to S&F Supplies.

Bordeaux supports the OEM warranty as related to ink performance and interaction with machine parts such as tubing, pumps, printheads, dampers, capping stations, wipers, etc. Our inks are fully compatible with the solvents and/or chemicals found in the OEM ink. In the event of a suspected ink problem, the batch number and BBE date of the ink should be immediately sent to us. We will log in this information and inform our HQ in California and Israel (if needed). Please also note that in the procedure for converting to Bordeaux Ink, it is recommended that the customer run a nozzle test print as a control before putting in the Bordeaux cartridges. After running two cleaning cycles to ensure that the Bordeaux ink is fully into the system, another nozzle and test print are run. Keeping these initial prints is important, so that the Bordeaux ink prints can be immediately compared to the OEM ink prints, and can also be used as a standard vs. subsequent prints. Bear in mind that printer parts do not have infinite lifetimes, and some discretion is always needed when determining the root cause of a problem. If the Bordeaux ink is determined to be the cause of a problem, Bordeaux will replace the ink and any part shown that has been adversely affected by the ink.

How this affects you!The manufacturer of the printer you are using cannot void the warranty on your printer because you use a cartridge or refill kit manufactured by someone other than the printer manufacturer. This prohibition includes the use of compatible cartridges, and remanufactured cartridges

IBM vs. The United States (The Sherman and Clayton Antitrust Law)Furthermore: you don’t have to be intimidated when the printer people tell you they will void your warranty on your equipment if you do not use the O.E.M. ink or toner. Nor should you be intimidated if they should try to charge extra because you are not using the O.E.M. ink or toner. This is illegal for another reason and this is referred to as product linking, check it out:The Supreme Court (IBM vs. The United States) held that IBM could not threaten customers with termination of their data processing equipment leases just because they did not use supplies manufactured by IBM. Such practice constituted a ”tying agreement” and was found to be in violation of the Sherman and Clayton Antitrust Law.
