JPI EDM 700 ENGINE MONITOR
DisplayP (%) view: displays EGT as a percent of redline. Full height is 100%, 1 segment only is 50% of redline.
Use during: 1. Power changes2. Decent
N (normalize) view: displays EGT normalized with all column peaks are set to same half level height. Any changes are shown as increase/decrease of column height. Each segment = 10°F change. Use during:
1. Runup (fouled plug will be higher temp)2. Cruise Flight
Hold LF button 5 seconds to toggle between views. CHT is displayed by missing segment, in 25°F increments starting at 300°F ModesAutomatic (default 2 min after start up): Each cylinder and each parameter value is automatically sequenced and shown in the digital display for a few seconds. Press LF then STEP to change to Automatic mode Manual (default at start up): Tap STEP button to enter manual mode. Each parameter is displayed until you manually STEP to the next parameter (press STEP button). If no button is depressed for 15 minutes, the Automatic Mode will resume. Tap LF button to record data in memory (SNAP will display)

Lean Find
Establish cruise @ ~ 65-75% power In Manual Mode, lean until any cylinder reaches peak & then enrich ~
50°F Wait 1 minute Tap LF button. Confirm display indicates LEAN R. If shows LEAN L hold STEP & LF buttons simultaneously for 5
seconds to change unit to LEAN R Continue leaning at ~ 10°F/second (¼ turn of vernier/sec). Flashing DOT indicates hottest cylinder & that unit is in Lean Find
mode. Stop leaning when a column begin flashing & display flashes
LEANEST for 2 seconds (not necessarily the hottest cylinder). Hold LF button to display PEAK EGT. Due to thermal inertia this will
typically be -15°F lean of peak. Slowly enrich mixture, EGTs will continue to rise, to:
Peak EGT for best economy100°F rich of peak for best power
Hold LF button after peak EGT is found to display peak EGT AlarmsTap STEP button to terminate alarm for 10 minutesHold STEP button to terminate alarm for remainder of flight EGT in Cruise 1350°F & should drop 200°F with full throttle.
EGT span (DIF) 120 to 150°F
CHT 350°F (OAT 60°F)
CHT span 50 to 70°F

NAV Modes: APR, NAV & REV
ROLL Modes: HDG & STB On/Off button puts unit into STB mode: command roll left or right using Turn KnobPre Flight
Turn A/P master switch to Test position: all lights & annunciators should illuminate.
When TC is up to speed, set A/P master switch to On: Green Ready light should remain lit.
Press On/Off switch to place unit in STB mode. Command roll left and right using Turn Knob & observe control wheel movement.
Set DG bug to current heading and press HDG mode button. Confirm HDG is illuminated. Move DG bug left & right of heading and observe control wheel movement.
Using control wheel, gently override roll servo to both left and right.
Tune nav radio to VOR, press NAV mode button. Adjust OBS to deflect CDI and observe control wheel following.
Repeat in APR and REV modes. Confirm REV mode reverse sensing.
Disengage A/P using control wheel AP disconnect switch. Turn AP OFF using Master AP switch
In Flight Turn AP master switch ON. Confirm RDY light illuminates. Trim A/C in both yaw & pitch. Centre Turn Knob & press On/Off switch. Confirm STB mode
light illuminates. Set heading bug on DG & press Turn Knob to engage.
Confirm HDG mode light illuminates. Must be within a needle width and 10° of heading to
engage NAV, APR or REV modes. Use APR mode when tracking GPS is when cross country.

Emergency Procedures
In the event of an un-commanded autopilot control input1. Override autopilot with firm use of the aircraft control
column and disengage autopilot using the control wheel AP disconnect switch.
2. Switch the A/P master switch off.3. Do not use auto pilot until it has been repaired.
Monroy Traffic-Watch ADT-300
The ATD-300 is a PASSIVE receiver capable of detecting transponder replies from nearby aircraft. It WILL NOT detect
aircraft that do not have an operating transponder or when not being interrogated by Secondary Surveillance Radar. Ground CheckSet to NEAR or FAR & turn on (BRT or DIM)May be set To MUTE while taxing but ensure is set to NEAR or FAR prior to moving onto departure runway. Normal setting is FAR in order to offer the earliest possible detection though may be set to NEAR when operating in the vicinity of a busy airport. ModesNear Within 1NM & 500': "TRAFFIC NEARBY"Far Within 3 NM & 1000': "TRAFFIC"
Within 1 NM & 1000': "TRAFFIC NEARBY"Mute No audio alerting & displays traffic in MSL vs. relative
altitude.
If traffic has no Mode C, will display range only:
STRIKE FINDER
Pre Flight: On power up, 3 sunburst patterns followed by Test Status
Annunciator or “Walking Dot” rotates clockwise in the four Cardinal positions.
Default range is 200 NM. Avoid take-off or landing when Strike Finder displays a cluster within
20 NM of air field.
In Flight: At 100 - 200 range, each dot represents 1 strike At 25-50 range, 4 dots represents 1 strike Dots remain illuminated for 5 minutes Use Clear button to clear display
Assess cluster size, accumulation rate, adjacent activity, persistence & fragmentation.

Displaying History Press Time button to replay history (last 4000 strikes). Compresses
up to 1 hr. into 1 min. Test Status Annunciator rotates counter clockwise to indicate displaying history.
Max age of history is briefly displayed in lower left corner. Press Time button again during playback to display age of current
playback. Display returns to normal operation once history has been
displayed (may take up to 1 min.) To end playback immediately, press Time & Clear buttons simultaneously.
Error CodesX0 - Intermittently Displayed: Sometimes a high level of storm activity may cause a momentary X0 error to appear. This is an acceptable condition, requiring no operator action. All other error codes indicate display or sensor malfunctions. Do not rely on Strike Finder until corrected. Whenever an error is detected the "Walking Dot” Test Status Annunciator disappears from the display.
