Acroni is the largest slovenian steel manufacturer, which in order to produce steel recycles scrap in an electric arc furnace, casts it on continuous caster and rolls it into quality flat rolled steel products.
The company is specialised for the production of flat steel products and belongs among most important global suppliers of heavy plates. Besides carbon steel, Acroni produces also stainless and electrical steel.
Constant development, improvement of processes and materials along with the introduction of a quality assurance system in accordance with ISO 9001, environmental management systems in accordance with ISO 14001 and occupational health and safety management systems in accordance with OHSAS 18001, are our guarantee for a constant quality level.
Our experts are always prepared to offer customers their assistance so that the excellent properties of our steels may be exploited to their full advantage and the satisfaction of the customer.
Acroni is a member of SIJ – SLOVENIAN STEEL GROUP.
SIJ is a vertically integrated holding company, the leading steel manufacturer in Slovenia, and one of the largest stainless and special steel manufacturers in Europe. SIJ Group consists of the two largest steel companies in Slovenia (Acroni and Metal Ravne), other manufacturing and processing companies (Ravne Knives, Elektrode, SUZ), specialized service and sales centers across Europe and the USA, and companies for scrap steel collection and sales.

ACRONI`s wear resistant plates have been successfully used in abrasive environments for more than a quarter of a century. New investments in technology, continuous development and tight cooperation with our customers enable us to offer wider product range, high quality and short delivery terms. Our wear resistant plates are the material of choice for even the most demanding environments and applications.
NICRODUR - extreme resistance to abrasive wearNICRODUR heavy plates are produced in hardness range from 220 to 540 HBW. Compared to non-alloyed structural steels, NICRODUR plates have higher durability which result in up to three times longer lifespan of your products. The unique combination of high hardness, high strength and good toughness improves bending, welding, machining properties and deformation level. NICRODUR is the material well suited for a wide variety of applications in which exposure to heavy wear by hard minerals and other abrasive materials is the case.
Born from fire, made to endure
NICROTER – heat resistance in addition to abrasion resistance NICROTER 600 fine grain steel combines high resistance to mechanical wear, heat resistance up to 600°C, good weldability and machining.
X 12 – increasing hardness with exposure to wearThe virtue of high manganese steel X12 (Hadfield steel, X120Mn12) is high wear resistance and work-hardnening effect on steel structure. With exposure to wear, hardness can be increased by three times compared to delivered condition.
More than just steel – higher efficiency through SIJ welding solutionsInside SIJ group we have developed special welding consumables to be used when welding Acroni's steel. Long experience in the field of welding and expertise knowledge enables us to offer more efficient welding solutions, that can increase welding performance and essentially reduce the costs of production by our clients.

OTHER REMARKS SIGN */** WELDING PROCESS OR PROCEDURE:
1. For the combinations of NICRODUR steels with unalloyed materials type’s S355 we recommend welding materials marked *
2. *Root-welding infusions (under matching) and whole welding joints, upper layer should be welded with hardfacing process
3. Root-welding infusions (under matching) with sign* are filling with sign** or hardfacing with sign** or just welding with sign*
4. For cladding or hardfacing we recommend interlayer welding materials 18/8/6, without preheating

SIJ Acroni NICRODUR steels are well weldable. When welding thin plates preheating is not necessary. Preheating is recommended:
• At outside temperatures below 5 °C,
• Thicknesses above 20mm for NICRODUR 250 and 300 plates,
• Thicknesses above 8 mm for NICRODUR 400 and 500 plates.
In this cases recommended temperature of preheating during infusions should not exceed 200 °C. Exceeding the temperature over 200 °C is not recommended as this can cause reduction of hardness.
Welding should be performed immediately after the welding edges are finished, to avoid contamination. Coated electrodes must be dried before welding.
By repair welding and joint welding sharp edges should be avoided, and the first layer of weld filler material should be in thinner dimensions, to assure as low as possible energy intake.
* All welding instructions are reccomendations only.

“Industrial knives made of Acroni wear resistant steel
Where extreme wear on knives and other components is required, choice of appropriate material is crucial. ACRONI's Nicrodur, viewed from the perspective of mechanical treatment, can be easily operated. Nicrodur excellent plate flatness and narrow tolerances allow us to omit surface treatment for some types of industrial knives and wear parts. We save time and money. According to our measurments the lifetime of parts, produced using Nicrodur and Nicroter is up to three times longer in comparison to other steels. To avoid abrasive wear on industrial knives and wear parts, we recommend welding on most exposed parts. Using Acroni's wear resistant plates enables us to boost the performance of our clients.«
