Evaluations of Facultywith SmartEvals
Borough of Manhattan Community College, March, 2014Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning
The SmartEvals System• Uses OUR evaluation survey, Likert scale (5 levels)• Spring 2014 evaluation window will be open from April 22 to May 15th
(day before finals). Our window will be 21 days. SE recommends 23 days.
• To use the SmartEvals pre-programmed Likert reports, we must change the value system to: 5=Strongly Agree, 4=Agree, 3=Neutral, 2=Disagree, and 1=Strongly Disagree.
• Levels of access will be set. ONLY faculty will have access to written comments. ONLY faculty and Chairs will have access to individual level electronic reports.
• The list of students in courses will be extracted two weeks before the evaluation window opens (April 8th). Anyone who has OFFICIALLY withdrawn from the class will NOT receive an evaluation. (Last day for an official “W” is April 24.)

• Faculty maintain good rapport with students, talk about changes and improvements – how results have been used in the past. Faculty monitor the response rates and talk about it in class.
• Faculty pass out printed reminders (suggested on the web site)• Faculty send additional emails to students

This chart shows the efficiency of all "To Students" emails based on the performance in the first 48 hours after the email was sent. Please note that the average school that sends out email #6 generally gets about an 8% higher response rate, so simply send more emails to easily increase response rates!
