BOSTON BULLETIN Facebook f Website Twitter Instagram Tuesday, January 21, 2020 January photo calendar competition winner – David Dales Work has begun on the network of EV Charging Points across six of the Council-owned car parks. The bases have already been prepared in Bargate Green, Cattle Market, Geoff Moulder, Municipal Buildings and Staniland car parks. Local Civil Engineers are currently creating the most recent base at the West End car park for work to begin soon. Increasing the number of accessible charging points will clearly promote Boston as a place that is actively encouraging alternative vehicle technologies to improve its air quality and the wider environmental impact. Also by making the town of Boston more accessible to electric vehicle owners there is an opportunity to make our shopping areas, parks and attractions a destination of choice. Boston Borough Council was successful in its funding application to the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) to enable this initiative to progress as part of the Councils climate change agenda. The installation of all EV charging points will be completed and available for public use from April 2020. Each EV charging point will have the facility to charge two vehicles simultaneously and will be located in Staniland Car Park, Bargate Green Car Park, Cattle Market Car Park, West End Car Park, Geoff Moulder Leisure Centre and Municipal Buildings Car Park. Portfolio holder for Town Centre at Boston Borough Council, Cllr Chelcei Sharman, said: “This initiative is a great opportunity for Boston, not only to help the prosperity of our town centre and improve air quality, but to also encourage people to support the transition to a low- carbon society and tackle climate change.” EV Charging points work begins Join the thousands who receive the Bulletin – email emma.staff@boston.gov.uk to subscribe.
