You know you’re an ostomate when…
• You have a favorite "Ensure" flavor.
• People ask about your guts, before they ask about your family.
• You have more photos of your insides that the outsides.
• You have a spare pair of underwear in your bag/pocket.
• You give directions via toilets rather than by restaurants.

Survivors say the funniest things!
I told my husband we should finish up the kitchen remodel because if I died he would have a better chance of finding another wife with a nicer kitchen.
I called the American Cancer Society’s 24 hour hotline and said, "Do something! I have cancer and you said to call.“
I can't die, my drawers aren't clean!
I treated cancer like any other training activity, I got up a bit early and took care of the cancer stuff.

A Good Survivor About Rosebud2012 www.inspire.com/Rosebud2012 45 years old, Female, Married Topeka, Kansas Joined March 16, 2012 I am a mom to one child and one cute dog. I have been married for 21 years to a great
man who has been through my ulcertive colitis with me for over 20 years. I became a recent member to the "Ostomy Family" January of 2012 ...
Hi Randy and Suzie,
Thank you for your replies. I am going into my 3 month of having my ileostomy. I am still learning the ins and out with it, but I do not get upset any more if I have an accident. I have had ulcerative colitis for over 23 years. I always new that there would be a time when the doctor would tell me I would need this to be done. I have to admit those words were still very scary to me at any age. Randy at first I was going to name my stoma Monty short for Montezuma. But one of my ostomy nurses told me how cute of a rosebud I had. The other kept saying that I had the Louis Vutton of stomas since the doctors name is Lui and its nicely rounded. But when I name it Rosebud I was thinking more of Citizen Kane then how my stoma looked. Thank you for suggesting UOAA and CC Alliance to me. I will take any help I can get.
Thank you everyone for your support and friendship.

About jack41241 www.inspire.com/jack41241 71 years old, Male Louisville, Kentucky Joined April 8, 2012 Rosebud2012, you and I are in somewhat the same
boat. I had my surgery one month ago. It has been quite a month with lots of discomfort, denial, depression, and anger. Have you felt any of those emotions?I have a great support group in my cast of friends, my daughter, and a cousin but it's good to come here and see who else feels as I do about anything. jack41241http://www.inspire.com/Rosebud2012/journal/new-to-the-group-24/?page=last#replies
