Bow Cross wins Mayor’s Award for Planning ExcellenceBow Cross received two major awards at the prestigious London Planning Awards 2015 held at City Hall in London recently.
The decade-long regeneration of the estate was awarded the top prize – the “Mayor’s Award for Planning Excellence” and also received the award for the “Best Project Five Years On”.
Swan was praised as “having transformed the area into a traditional street-based neighbourhood where people wanted to live”.
The awards, organised by London First in conjunction
with the Mayor of London, the Royal Town Planning Institute and London Councils celebrate the outstanding contribution of planners to the capital’s urban regeneration.
Road Safety Event on Bow Cross
Twelve children from Bow Cross recently enjoyed learning about road safety when they attended an event hosted by Swan’s Resident Involvement team working with Construction Safe.
During the activity, the children learnt about the importance
of being road aware and choosing a safe place to play.
The children toured the estate where they put their learning into practice and identified the different types of road signs and also the traffic calming measures we have on Bow Cross.
The children were also reminded about the importance of crossing the road safely and being aware of the different vehicles that can be found on the estate.

The lifts at Bow Cross are not play areas but recently we have received a number of reports of children playing in them. Please warn children about the dangers of playing with lifts.
Most lift accidents are easily preventable. Please take care when riding in the lifts to make sure children don’t get their hands, feet, clothing or shoes trapped between the closing doors.

Have you been invited to make a claim for Universal Credit? You will be asked to apply for Universal Credit if you have a change of circumstances and need to make a new claim for benefit. The Job Centre will let you know if you need to make a Universal Credit claim.
Universal Credit brings together in one payment: Working Tax Credit; Child Tax Credit; Income Support; Jobseeker’s Allowance; Employment and Support Allowance and Housing Benefit. It is paid to you as one single monthly payment. If you receive Universal Credit you are responsible for paying your rent from the money you receive as the amount you receive.
