bowie - branded content with v&a
TRANSCRIPT
In April 2013 Absolute Radio collaborated with the Victoria and
Albert Museum in London to produce
BOWIE The definitive David Bowie story with
the stunning David Bowie is V&A exhibition at its heart
BOWIE told the story from his early life in post war
Brixton right through to his new album The Next
Day, spread across three hour-long programmes.
The story was presented by comedian TIM
MINCHIN and was told by those who
know David best, the friends and musicians
who have been part of his life; using the
memorabilia, lyrics, photos and clothes on
display at the David Bowie is exhibition at
the V&A.
Contributors include Bowie's childhood friend and artist GEORGE
UNDERWOOD, who reveals how an argument over a girl resulted in
David's unique eye colouration, and touring guitarist JOHN' HUTCH'
HUTCHINSON recounts the moment David - to the shock of the band
and fans alike - ended The Spiders of Mars on stage in Hammersmith in
1973. We hear from SUZI RONSON, wife of the late, great Mick
Ronson and CARLOS ALOMAR the guitarist who has played on more
Bowie records than any other musician.
Contemporary artists like BASTILLE, HURTS and MILES KANE,
amongst others, revealed the influence Bowie still has.
Other contributors include RONNIE WOOD,
NOEL GALLAGHER, PETER FRAMPTON,
GLENN HUGHES, NICK RHODES
and THOMAS DOLBY.
The shows were heavily promoted across the entire ABSOLUTE RADIO NETWORK of stations with pre recorded trails and presenter live reads in every show.
The pre recorded trails included snippets of content to tease the upcoming show, TX details and information about the
David Bowie is exhibition at the V&A.
The V&A had ownership of the hour long documentary’s and repeats with 3 x 10” credits during the hour to inform
listeners about what they can expect from David Bowie is - a major exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
We produced additional video content to host online at absoluteradio.co.uk/bowie and Absolute Radio’s
YouTube channel, featuring the V&A’s curators talking through the most iconic items from the exhibition.
