Member Spotlight – George Emmons George is one of our chapter’s original members! He joined in the summer of 2001 (the chapter was formed in May of 2001). He has been playing golf since we has 10 years old! He first played with his father, an IBMer, on the IBM courses in NY state. The cost back in 1955 was 25 cents for 9 holes. He liked the sport right away and still loves it for a variety of rea-sons: you are competing against yourself, against the course, and against the ele-ments – a great combination. Hitting a great shot is also very satisfying and hop-ing for the next one is what keeps him still hooked on the game. George’s favorite club is his seven wood, his favorite golfer of all time is Arnold Palmer, and his favorite Connecticut course is Tashua Knolls. He aspires to play at Pebble Beach some day. Those who know George are aware of his prodi-gious body of knowledge of history in gen-eral, and of golf history specifically. He was a history major at Holy Cross. George especially enjoys connecting with ASGA members, and he is well known for his signature way of leaving an event by making sure he gives a quick kiss to every lady in the group! We have been fortunate to have George serve our chapter in a variety of ways – as president and as golf chairman (both sev-eral times), and as publicity chairman. George sums up his attitude by saying that life is fun! Just look for the good and put the heartaches behind you!

Upcoming Events As usual, we’ll be meeting for drinks and dinner on the first and third Fridays of each month. Jo and Lyn have been coming up with new and different places to try so that members from all over Fairfield County are included. A night of indoor golf at the Four Season Racket Club in Wilton is tentatively planned for Saturday night, March 23. Nancy Clark has graciously offered her house again for our Masters Golf Tourna-ment Party on Sunday, April 14.

Note regarding February newsletter: Maureen Markelon and Bill Rilley were at Elliott’s poker party in January! Sorry for that omission.
