Awareness—can we learn practices that inspire us to become more aware of ourselves, others and the world we live in? In a circle of women who support us in this questioning, we will use our curiosity to learn and nurture these practices. One method, among others, we will focus on to start is sound—can it help us become more aware? We will be experimenting with different aspects of sound—chanting, toning, vocalizing, listening to mu-sic, etc. in order to become calmer, peaceful and healthier. DO YOU LIKE MAKING SOUP ? DO YOU LIKE TO COOK ? DO YOU LIKE TO BAKE ?

Our Centre has registered so many new members over the past months and we are very grateful for your interest in our centre. I am sure you have signed up to volunteer in

various positions ...however we are lacking volunteers (who are the back-bone of the centre) in the kitchen where lunches are prepared each day. We are always looking for that ’favourite dish’ you would like to bring and pitch in to help serve/prepare? in the kitchen. We PAY FOR INGREDIENTS … the folks who come to the centre for lunches, coffee/tea and goodies every day are so very appreciative of anything you may wish to bring in that, I am sure, would be a smash!! Call Pat if you want your name on the list … 250 951-1159.

What’a you

think?

Are you up for

another one ?? Every spring the Centre hosts

a GARAGE SALE, RENTING TABLES to any-one who has “stuff” to get rid of. If you would like to see another Sale this year, we are looking for volunteers to pitch in and help organize and/or chair? a committee to get one up and run-ning...month and time to be chosen. We miss Barbara McMahon, our faithful “Silent Auc-tion” organizer. She did such a tremendous job of gathering up valuable items for the sale along with any donated items from centre members.

PLEASE CALL PAT AT 250 951-1159 if you would like to have a hand in helping to get

one going...bring your ideas!!

Our faithful volunteer (Bill Adkins) who mans the

centres website asks that ALL ACTIVITY LEADERS please email the Senior Centre at:

[email protected] ALL changes you wish make to the Centre’s

Activities Calendar...makes his and your life much easier as it’s important info for all those in-volved ...also advise Margaret, our Activities director!

.AND

...you must be a member to participate in any activity at the Centre. We also ask you sign the guest book on the front table each time you come into the Centre; a very important Insurance issue.

Please carry your membership card with you at all times. Thank you from your Board of Directors.

TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN A signed First Edition book by IAN RANKIN (grey/blue cover) was left at the Centre by mistake. If you have taken if from the library to read, would you please return to the Centre as soon as possible. It was on loan (can’t remember the title) and must be returned to the owner. Many thanks from Mike Bull (in our kitchen Monday mornings cooking good food! ) 250 752-3946

It was an early start to celebrating ‘Robbie’s birthday’ with the Ramblers playing for a sing-along of favourite Scottish tunes...then the arrival of the Scottish and Country danc-ers and the young people entertaining us

with a variety of Scottish flings and sword dances … the four year old was the “star” of the show! Piper John Reid led the group with Maggie carrying the haggis, Fern on the drum and Margaret wielding the sword to where Bob McWhirter poeti-cally greeted and addressed the Haggis! A wee dram of whis-key for a toast got the crowd ready to enjoy the roast beef/haggis meal. Dancing to the Ramblers Rock ‘n Roll music finished off the evening ...a fun evening for all.

Our friend ROY JONES A few weeks ago, we at the centre said goodbye to Roy, our favourite “facilities guy˝. Roy fought the good fight, so pleasant and up-beat always … never a complaint, only pos-itive thoughts he sent our way. We were fortunate to see Roy at the Christmas Dinner and have a nice visit with him. He is greatly missed here at the Centre … a valuable member on the Board; he participated in so many activities over the years, put his heart and soul into everything he took on. “Missing your write-ups in the local “News˝… rest in peace Roy. “God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts.˝

After an early start on the ferry and mini bus, we boarded the large coach and headed south. Arriving at the Factory Outlet at Tulalip, we had time for lunch and shopping. Late afternoon we boarded the coach and headed to Warm Beach Camp where we enjoyed a wonderful five course dinner and a special live stage production. The whole evening was fabulous. Friday morning, after a buffet breakfast, we headed to Leavenworth stopping at the Alps Candy Factory. Up-on arriving at Leavenworth, we had time to walk around and see the town. We then headed for our hotel in Wenatchee where we had the evening to ourselves. Saturday, after a leisurely buffet breakfast, we went to Cashmere and the Aplets and Caplets Factory; then on to enjoy a sleigh ride drawn by Belgian Shire horses. Afterwards, we warmed up by the fire enjoying a wonderful hot lunch with hot apple cider. The rest of the day was in Leavenworth where at 5:00 p.m. the lights in the town came on. We then enjoyed a wonderful Bavar-ian dinner before returning to our hotel. Sunday, after breakfast, we headed home. A thorough-ly enjoyable trip and well worth it. Theresa and Bob were wonderful hosts. From Margaret Rothe

7 I was thinking about old age and de-

cided that old age is when you still have something on the ball, but you are just too tired to bounce it.

The older you get the tougher it is to lose weight because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends

The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a re-placement.

♥As Valentine Day approached, I tried to think of an unusual gift for my husband. When I discovered his favourite red plaid pants had a broken zipper, I thought I had the perfect Valen-tine. I had the pants repaired and gift wrapped them. On the package I put on a big red heart on which I printed My Heart Pants for You. I was the surprised one however, when I saw the same Red heart pasted to our former empty but now over-flowing wood box. Wood you be my Valentine?

♥The lingerie shop where my aunt works was crowded with customers looking for Valentine gifts. A young businessman came to the register with a lacy black negligee. My aunt no-ticed the next customer, an elderly farmer was holding a long flannel nightgown and kept looking at the young man’s sexier choice. When it was his turn, he placed the flannel nightgown on the counter. “Would you have anything in black flannel?”

YES, THESE ARE TRUE STORIES !
