John OtwaySaturday 28 January, 8pm£15Rock veteran Otway dubbed himself rock’n’roll’s greatest failure after many unsuccessful attempts to produce a follow-up to his 1977 classic (Cor Baby, That’s) Really Free with Wild Willy Barrett. A mere quarter century later, he was back on Top of The Pops and back in the charts. Now he comes to The Pound with his trademark brand of anarchy, fun and acrobatics.

“He’s a cabaret act masquerading as a rock act. He is gleeful, anecdotal, funny and life-enhancing.”

Rock And Roll’s Greatest Failure: Otway The Movie (Cert Pg)Saturday 28 January, 4pm £7Followed by Q&A with John OtwayJohn Otway’s career is an educational yet magical lesson in self-promoting... Recruiting his fans for endless manipulative, over-the-top projects which, among others, garnered him status as The Nation’s 7th Favourite Lyricist in a BBC poll, secured him a Top Ten hit for his 50th birthday and a feature movie for his 60th. Failure has its rewards. It’s kept Otway in the spotlight for 35 years.

When he is refused access, Theroux casts actors to re-enact incidents people experienced as members to better understand the way it operates. Provocative, gloriously funny and outlandishly revealing, with a bizarre twist worthy of a Hollywood movie.

Café Society (Cert 12a)Thursday 26 January, 11am & 7.30pm96 minutes, 2016, USThe 1930s milieu of movie stars, playboys, flamboyant parties and gangsters form the backdrop to Woody Allen’s tale of a young man who leaves New York to start a new life in LA. One of Allen’s most visually accomplished films, this fast paced screwball comedy is an ode to classic Hollywood.

Swallows and Amazons (Cert Pg)Saturday 18 February, 2pm96 minutes, 2016, UKArthur Ransome’s childhood classic is updated for a new generation of would-be adventurers. The battle for ownership of the island teaches them skills of survival, friendship and the importance of holding your nerve.

The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years (Cert 12a)Thursday 23 February, 11am & 7.30pm97 minutes, 2016, UK / USFebruary 1964; after a brief commercial break, four young men from Liverpool step onto the Ed Sullivan stage, changing culture forever. They went on tour.

Julieta (Cert 15)Tuesday 7 February, 7.30pm99 minutes, 2016, Spain w/subsPedro Almodóvar returns with an intriguing mystery spanning three decades in the life of a Madrid schoolteacher. The Girl on the Train (Cert 15)Thursday 2 March, 11am & 7.30pm112 minutes, 2016, US Emily Blunt stars in the gripping adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ best-selling suspense thriller. Devastated by her recent divorce, Rachel spends her daily commute fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day. One morning, she sees something shocking happen there and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds.

Lo and Behold, Reveries of the Connected World (Cert 12a)Tuesday 7 March, 7.30pm98 minutes, 2016, US Werner Herzog has made a career out of exploring the conflict between humans and nature and now turns his attention to something a little more intangible – the internet. Through fascinating interviews with scientists, hackers, victims of online bullying and a group of forest dwellers recovering from ‘internet overdose’, he traces the evolution of our connected world and muses on where our growing dependence on these technologies might take us.

Hunt For The Wilderpeople(Cert 12a)Thursday 16 March, 11am & 7.30pm101 minutes, 2016, New ZealandOne of those rare films that you just don’t want to end, this heart-warming odd couple comedy follows an unruly teenager and a grouchy bushman who unwittingly find themselves the subject of a national manhunt. Following a series of mishaps and misunderstandings, they head deep into the New Zealand bush and are branded both as outlaws and folk heroes. Loaded with visual gags, stylistic flourishes and a slew of movie references, this endlessly inventive and often surprisingly poignant film is an absolute joy.

Captain Fantastic (Cert 15)Tuesday 4 April, 7.30pm118 minutes, 2016, US The title may sound like a Superhero movie, but the superpowers on display in this entertaining and thought provoking drama are ones of self-sufficiency, mutual respect and an appreciation of nature. Viggo Mortensen is on top form as the patriarch of an unconventional family who live deep in the forests of the pacific North West. They hunt and farm their own food, sing around the campfire, learn about herbal remedies and take part in rigorous daily exercise. But when tragedy strikes, they are forced to leave their bucolic existence and confront the outside world.

I, Daniel Blake (Cert 15)Thursday 13 April, 11am & 7.30pm100 minutes, 2016, UK / France / Belgium For what could be a final feature film, Ken Loach uses a format similar to his acclaimed early work Cathy Come Home to explore the Kafkaesque bureaucracy of the modern benefits system. Following the increasingly frustrating experiences of a 59 year old carpenter who needs help after injuring himself and a destitute single mother of two, this Palm D’or winning film is an authentic, quietly devastating and often very funny critique of an uncaring system that cripples those that are in most need of help.

Trolls (Cert Pg)Tuesday 11 April, 2pm93 minutes, 2016, US From the genius creators of Shrek, Trolls stars Anna Kendrick as Poppy, the optimistic leader of the Trolls, and her polar opposite, Branch, played by Justin Timberlake.
