The need for a news bulletin from the Boys’ Division

was strongly felt and with a view to fulfill this, BOYS

DIVISION NEWS is started from the issue of JULY-

JULY 2012

The new Committee of Management was installed on

the 11th

of July 2012 at a small function in the prayer

hall of the YMCA Boys’ Division.

The Chief Guest speaks.

The function started with the opening prayer by

KAMARAJ BIRTHDAY

CELEBRATIONS

The birth anniversary of Perunthalaivar Kamaraj was

celebrated in the YMCA Brown Memorial Matriculation

Higher Secondary School on 14th

July 2012. The Chief

Guest was Rotarian Mr. K.C. Ezhilarasan, Secretary of

the PERUNTHALAIVAR KAMARAJ MEMORIAL

TRUST. The occasion was also important as the four

student Houses viz. Cheran, Cholan, Pandian and

Pallavan were inaugurated by the Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest, in his key note address, elaborated

the services rendered by our former Chief Minister

Kamaraj, in the field of Education and he also called

upon the student community to utilize the facilities

introduced by him for the education of the poor and the

marginalised. Our school children entertained the

gathering by their cultural programmes.

In the 1960s the then Executive Secretary of the

Boys’ Division, Mr. Frank C Brown was circulating a

small news bulletin with a printed header and filled with

the news with the help of a duplicator.

The Boys’ Division of YMCA can certainly boast of

the selfless services of many secretaries and lay leaders

in the past. We hope this news bulletin will help our staff

and well-wishers to get informed and to reorient with the

changed environment.

Project Chairman Mr. David Livingstone welcomed the

guests and the participants. Mr Gerard J Madhuram,

Regional Chairman of the Southern Region of YMCAs

was the Chief Guest.

The Regional Chairman administered the oath of office

to the members of the newly constituted committee. Rev.

Yellappan Jesudoss prayed for the blessings of Almighty

on the new committee. The Regional Secretary Mr.

Danial Ravikumar felicitated the new committee. The

Chief Guest released the first copy of a booklet

containing the names, phone numbers and the email-Ids

of the committee members, staff and the teachers. The

first copy was received by Mr. Ashok Kumar, vice-

chairman of the Management Committee.

Vote of thanks was delivered by the Executive

Secretary Mr. V. Yesudhas. Earlier our school girls

performed a beautiful welcome dance. The meeting

came to an end with the closing prayer and benediction

by Rev. Jayapal of the Evangelical Church of India.

The Camp Centre is frequently used by corporates and

churches. In July we had special camps of the following:

1. RMKV group employees from Chennai

2. Regional Conference, Methodist Churches

Paragliding will be conducted by the YASA -Yelagiri

Adventure Sports Association during September 2012. For

information please visit www.yasa.co.in

Proposed to construct a Golden Jubilee Block – which will

house the office, store room, dormitory accommodation for

70 and a mini meeting hall.

We call upon the members of the Project Management

Committee, staff and well-wishers to patronize our Camp

Centre and the Youth Hostel at Yelagiri through your friends

and relatives. Please inform Schools/Colleges/Churches about

the facilities available with us.

Regional Executive Committee Meeting of the

Southern Region of YMCAs was held at Kanyakumari

on 28th

July 2012. It was hosted by YMCA

Marthandum-Kanyakumari Project under the

chairmanship of Adv. D. Sunil Prakash.
