The prefects visited the Old Age home on the 23rd of July in honour of Mandela Day. The elderly thoroughly enjoyed the company of our children and the eats that were pro- vided. This helps to instil in our children the sense of sharing and community. • On Friday, 25 July 2014, we will be hosting our Annual Inter House Athletics. (It would be greatly appreciated if parents are able to attend and show sup- port for our aspiring athletes of the future.) Further information will be on the communicator. Please drive carefully when you pick up or drop your child. The traffic conges- tion during these hours is immense but we need to exercise patience, putting the safety of our children first. We are currently in discussions trying to come up with a solution in order to alleviate the traffic congestion at these specific times. A few words of thanks to the staff who took the time during the holidays to prepare for their lessons for the third term, as well to our general assistants for having our fields maintained and marked for the sporting events ahead. • Thank you again for the support and positive feedback we receive from our parents, it means a great deal to the staff at BPS. GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTSNEW EXTRAMURAL INFORMATION - MAGIC BLOX 4 LIFEMagic Blox 4 Life will be offering an Introduction to Life Skills workshop in the 3rd term and a follow-up Life Skills 4 Exams workshop in the 4th term at Bryanston Primary School.

3RD TERMMagic Blox Parents Information Meet-ing (optional)This meeting is to give parents an under-standing of what their children will be learn-ing in the workshop and how they can sup-port the child with the learning.

• To be held twice a month from 17h30 – 18h15 as per extra mural schedule.

Magic Blox Introduction to Life Skills workshop: OrientationRepeated every Tuesday afternoon as per extra mural timetable. The Orientation workshop offers children the opportunity to experience a Magic Blox workshop where they learn skills and are equipped with tools to help them to deal with any challenges they may have in their life as well as support children who are top of their class to stay there.

• R350 per child (max 8 new children per workshop)• Includes: Parents information meeting, 2 hour Life Skills workshop, all crea-

tive materials and a Feedback Report.

4TH TERMFollow up Life Skills for Exams workshopOpen to all children who have completed the Orientation workshop. The Life Skills for Exams workshop is designed specifically to help children overcome challenges with regards to the exam process.

• R250 per child (max 8 children per workshop)• Includes: 2 hour Life Skills workshop, all creative materials and a Feedback

Report.• R550 if you sign up for both workshops (Orientation + Life Skills for Exams

Workshops)The skills and concepts are taught with lots of fun games and activities, worksheets, creativity with arts and crafts, visualisation, imagination exercises and affirmations.

WINNERS - JUBILEE RAFFLEThanks to all children, parents, family members and friends for participating in the BPS Jubilee school raf-fle.

Congratulations to the winners who were con-tacted in person and announced in the final assembly before school broke up last term and are as follows:

• 1st prize: R5000 investment which can grow up to R16k – courtesy of Mr Dyce Fulton of Liberty’s Life Force Solutions), won by “Roy” who bought a ticket from Dieudonne Naicker

• 2nd prize: LG G2 smart phone valued at R10k was won by Jon Norton, a parent at the school.

• 3rd prize: AO canvas blockmounted (courtesy of Mr Steve Jordaan of King Pin Printing) went to Ashu Sharma (Grade 5M).

• 4th prize: R1000 (courtesy of Liberty Life Force solutions) was won by Kate Titmus – another parent

• 5th prize – R500 (courtesy of Liberty Life force solutions) went to “Jason” who bought a ticket from Anushka Rohits.

They have all been contacted and their prizes col-lected or waiting for them.

Well done to the five children who raised the most money for the school and each received R150 and a BPS foam finger (Courtesy BFC and Liberty Life Force Solutions)
