Bradford Taekwondo Club Inc. 210 Main Street Bradford, VT 05033 [email protected] November 30, 2018 Dear Instructors and Students: We would like to invite you and your students to participate in the 2019 Bruce V. Twing Poomsae Tournament, our first Blue Wave Taekwondo poomsae-only tournament! The tournament will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Bradford Taekwondo Club Inc. dojang in Bradford, VT. The purpose of this tournament is to encourage all levels of taekwondo practitioners in the Blue Wave Taekwondo Association to participate and get a feel for the world of competition (or sport) poomsae following WTF/USAT rules and procedures. The tournament will feature electronic scoring. There will be divisions for black belt and color belt competitors of all ages. All competitors will have the opportunity to perform and be scored on at least two different poomsae. Color belt divisions will be able to choose what forms to perform. There will also be an open pair (2 people) division and open team (3 people) division for any age and rank groups that wish to perform together (and choose their own forms). Our goal is to give all competitors valuable ring time and important feedback on their performances. Black belt “world class” competition will be as is done in World Poomsae competition with the forms for each round chosen for the competitors at random from the designated set of compulsory forms for their respective divisions. Enclosed are the division breakdown and required forms for each age group. In World Poomsae competition, it is age, not rank, that determines which poomsae are required for the division. In addition to the official divisions, we will offer an open division for black belts who wish to compete using WTF black belt forms but may not be familiar with the form requirements. Black belts competing in this division may choose any two WTF-recognized poomsae to perform (Taeguek or Yudanja). To avoid any unnecessary delays or confusion the morning of competition, there will be no door registration. Please register online using our Eventbrite site, by January 5, 2019. Enclosed you will find information for the tournament, including tournament poster and directions/parking map. All competitors must be checked in by 8:30 a.m. We will begin at 9am sharp! Sincerely yours, Masters Susan Cronin, Lisa Fearon, and Martin Emerson
