New in 2015 Associate Degree in Science with three specializations: engineering, agriculture, and health professions. New location in Vint Hill. Our renovated building at Vint Hill Village in eastern Fauquier County has five classrooms. It is next door to the county’s new business incubator. New programs in recreation and outdoor leadership, human services, computer science, and hospitality. Provost of the Fauquier Campus is is a new position that reflects the increasingly important role of LFCC in Fauquier. Dr. Chris Coutts is named provost. Dr. Kim Blosser assumes Coutts’ responsibilities as Vice President for Academic and Student Services. The 2015-2016 academic year marks LFCC’s 45th anniversary.

In 1970, we welcomed 577 students. Today, 9,400 students are enrolled in academic programs, as well as 10,760 individuals in workforce training.

Special RecognitionNational Center of Excellence in Cyber Defense designation by the United States National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security. Around the CollegeProgress continues on the $12 million, two-year renovation of Fairfax Hall, built in 1970. Completed projects include a beautiful new Toxopeus Welcome Center entrance, renovated faculty offices, and upgraded space for admissions, counseling & advising, and security. The project will be complete by Dec. 2016.

LFCC is granted candidacy status from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), which means that the college continues to advance toward national accreditation for the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program.

Virginia Inland Port manager Stan Crockett receives the Distinguished Alumni Award.

224 international students from 70 countries attend LFCC – from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe.

1,340 students earn a degree or certificate this year, including 78 dual-enrolled high school students.

The Warren B. French Distance Learning and Technology Wing is dedicated. The college praises Mr. French’s leadership and vision to improve access to higher education through technology.

LFCC signs partnership agreements with Shentel in August and with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Middle East District in November. The goal of our partnerships with business and industry is to train, recruit, and retain a skilled, local workforce.

LFCC’s Knowledge to Work (K2W) program celebrates an important accreditation success. SACSCOC approves seven programs at LFCC - including cyber security and health information management - which may be taken through K2W’s competency-based education (CBE) model. The college receives a $28,000 state grant to develop an innovative Trades Academy. Next year, selected high school seniors will travel to LFCC to study industrial maintenance technology. They can earn two academic career certificates as well as industry credentials in electrical tech, welding, and HVAC.

LFCC Educational Foundation Retired Virginia Delegate Joe May and his wife Bobby donate $100,000 to create an endowed engineering scholarship. Dominion Foundation also donates $25,000 for engineering lab supplies and equipment.

White House Foods donates $31,500 to LFCC’s Great Expectations program for foster youth.

Luray Caverns hosts the LFCC Foundation’s third annual “Evening with the Stars” fundraiser to support the Luray-Page County Center. The guest speaker is Dr. Craig Mello, 2006 Nobel Prize winner in microbiology.

Nearly 200 scholarships and emergency grants are awarded by the LFCC Foundation.

The LFCC Foundation reports a $6 million endowment and $20 million in assets. Assets include the $9.5 million Student Union at the Middletown campus, which was built on property donated to the LFCC Foundation in 1995.
