IntroductionElizabeth City State University’sinstitutionalidentityismorethanjustalogoandatagline.Itisapartofourbrand.TheECSUbrandistiedcloselytoourimage,whichisexpressedacrossthevarioustraditionalandnewmediatheuniversityusestocommunicatestrategicallywithourconstituents.Fromprintedmaterialssuchasletterheadandbusinesscards,topublications,presentations,promotionalitems,clothing,signage,digital/electroniccommunications,audio/videoproductions,advertisingandmarketing,ourinstitutionalidentitymakesthevisualimpressionthatbuildsourreputationandourimage–twoofourkeyassets.TheECSUbrandexperienceoccurseachtimetheuniversitytouchesaconstituent,includingstudents,parents,prospectivestudents,faculty,staff,partnersandthecommunity.Inordertobeeffectiveandtoenhancethebrandexperience,itisimportantthatourbrandbeusedconsistentlyinahigh-quality,professionalmanner.

Inmanycases,thefirstcontactapersonhaswithElizabethCityStateUniversityisthroughapublication,aletter,apromotionalitemorthroughourwebsite.Therefore,itisimportantthatlogos,colorsandotherelementsareusedconsistentlyanduniformlytoensurerecognitionandtoenhancetheuniversity’simage.Standardsandguidelineshavebeenestablishedforusingcolors,logosandvisualrepresentationsoftheuniversity.
