The “brand experience” communicates a distinctive message and an emotional identity.
FAST FACTS ABOUT BRAND & IMAGE
Brand & Image (B&I) is one of two specialist communications “arms” (the other being 3D Visualization) of Riddell Kurczaba Architecture Engineering Interior Design Ltd. (RKA), a full-service design firm staffed with more than 65 personnel located in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.
RKA’s Brand & Image department provides services directly to developers, building owners, designers, and tenants, in addition to RKA’s Architectural and Interior Design practice.
The experience profile of our Brand & Image key personnel extends into the international arena and includes projects for several prominent organizations of local, national, and international renown.
B&I offers its services to clients either independently or integrated with Riddell Kurczaba’s other service divisions (architectural design, interior design, and 3D visualization).

Brand & Image the future...* Designed & Directed by Ricardo Piedrahita, RKA Senior Designer, while at his former company.
TOTTO operates in North America, Latin America and Europe.
Having been involved in creating global retailer TOTTO’s first image in 1990, the designers were charged with evolving the worldwide brand and developing concepts for its next generation of stores. The primary challenge was creating a concept that the client (brand owner and/or franchiser) could adjust independently, to keep pace with rapid growth, without straying from the integrity of the international brand.

We were entrusted to modernize and turn over an image that had not been changed for the last 30 years.
Colsubsidio is a widely recognized, well established service provider based in Columbia. Their services range from travel, recreation and recreation, through to the operation of supermarkets and financial institutions.
Our challenge was to modernize and rebrand an image that had remained unchanged for over 30 years. The biggest hurdle was sidestepping misperceptions associated with the chain’s “makeover”. The store’s new look and feel had to be comfortable and modern, yet reined in so as
not to appear extravagant and beyond the means of the chain’s loyal customer base.
After developing a concept, designing displays and selecting fixtures exclusively for Colsubsidio, the designers managed production, design and construction of the project.

PASTAIO
The Pastaio concept was developed for a high-end consumer market. After the decision was made to bypass large grocery chains and sell direct to consumers in small dedicated shops, Brand & Image refined a concept that allowed a fun and playful, yet luxurious atmosphere.

The challenge was to incorporate different trends of arts & crafts under one roof.
ARTE & HOBBIE
Arte & Hobbie provides arts and crafts supplies to a select niche market in Columbia. Throughout this project, designers worked hand in hand with the client to create a unique way to sell and promote their product to their target audience. The challenge was to incorporate different trends of arts & crafts under one roof, providing the consumer an all-in-one retail destination.
The store’s sections were planogrammed such that the customer and the technical personnel could interact effectively on a more personal level.

...we transformed visions and concepts into real products.
Dioptrix, an optometrical outfit, sought a solution that would improve their kiosks’ visability and overall design. We provided a complete range of services from visual identity design to planning, product display and fixtures.
The challenge was designing a prototype that could be incorporated into any kind of shopping centre as a store or a kiosk. On this project we transformed visions and concepts into tangible products.

Royal Vista (Gateway)Exterior Signage
...Contemporary... Dynamic... Landmark.
In late 2008 RKA’s Brand & Image Division, along with our Architectural General Practice, was contracted by the City of Calgary to develop the Architectural and Design Guidelines for the City’s Royal Vista Business Park.
For Brand & Image this meant developing a decisive brand for the business park, creating a unified image through chosen colour schemes, and designing brand-oriented characteristics of the business park (including the entrance features).
