BRAWIJAYA UNIVERSITY

FORMASIFORMASI stands for Forum Mahasiswa Studi Bahasa Inggris in Brawijaya University. Becoming legal student activities since 1986. Formasi necessarily represent Brawijaya University in many occasion such as; Debate Competition, Speech Competition, Story Telling Competition, Invited Speaker in English Seminar, Newscast Competition,and many more. One of the oldest and largest legal student activities in Brawijaya University. We recruits over 800 new members (rookies) each year. Headquartered in Rusunawa Building B 1st floor, Brawijaya University, Malang.

UB is one of the leading universities in Indonesia with more than 60,000 students in various degrees ranging from the Diploma Program, Bachelor’s Degree Program, Master’s Degree Program, Doctoral Degree Program, and Medical Specialist Program, in 14 Faculties, 1 Vocational Program, and 1 Postgraduate Program. UB campus is situated in the city of Malang, East Java, in a strategic location can easily be reached by public transportations. With trees growing in all corners of the campus and the cool air of Malang, UB indeed is a very fresh campus. As a city of education, Malang has been developing rapidly. This seems to be inseparable from the glory of East Java in the past.

Brawijaya English Tournament, better known as BET, is the biggest annualevent held by FORMASI. This year, BET has spread its wings to the varsity level for non-debate competitions. The purpose of BET is to accomodate both highschoolers and varsity students to improve their skills in English-speaking skills and capabilities through highly varied competitive competitions. With the grand theme of "Science Fiction", BET 2018 wishes to present inspiringstories for the participants. Also by using the sentence "Brighten Up Your Future!" as our tagline, it is in our greatest wish to heat up the spirit of all the participants.Participating in Brawijaya English Tournament would be a great opportunity to mingle with another participants from different cultural backgrounds.

Competition FormatPreliminary Round : News Reading and Weather Forecast

In this round the participant will be performing news reading and weather forecast. The news script is randomly choosen from one of their prepared script right before the performance time. The weather forecast map will randomly shown right after they finish their news reading.Performing time : 7 minutesDress Code : formal attire

Semi Final Round : News Reading TandemIn this round, the participants should perform the news reading as a partner. The participants will be randomly paired by the lottery that will be given after the Breaking Night Party. Each paired participants has to perform 1 (one) of the choosen topic. The topic will be drawn at Technical Meeting.Performing time : 5 minutesDress Code : formal attire

Final Round : Live ReportIn this final round, the participants will be performing live report from one of three videos that will be shown by the committee. The committee will provide 3 different videos from 3 different events and situation. The Live report that will be delivered by the participants is randomly pick by the committee.Performing time : 5 minutesDress Code : formal attire

Competition FormatPreliminary Round : Prepared Informative Speech

Participant will deliver a speech with the topic that has been given by the committee, which is Digital Autism. The speech must be informative and can be easily understood by the audience.Performing time : 3 - 5 minutes

Semi-final Round : Inspiring SpeechThe participant will be given a topic, and then the participant will have a 60 minutes time of preparation to prepare an Inspiring speech that consist of opening, body, and closing. Performing time : 3 - 5 minutes

Final Round : Humorous SpeechThe finalists may choose their own topic, and will have 30 minutesto prepare their speeches in the waiting room. The speech must contain humor and have a strong message.Performing time : 5 - 7 minutes

The participant will be given several stories as a guide and will be published on the website, and the participant will have to choose one of the stories to be presented. Participants will have maximum of 7 minutes to deliver his/her story.Performing time : 7 minutes

Grand Finals : Plot TwistOne thing that you will have to remember, is life is never flat. There will be twists coming along your way, and you are the only one who creates your life story. To create your final journey, you will only have maximum of 10 minutes.Performing time : 10 minutes

Semi-finals : Tag TeamThe breaking participants will be plotted in several groups with equal members, and they will have to continue the beginning continuously with their group-mates.
