Prayer Gatherings

Greetings to my friends at Snuneymuxw,

Four months ago I received a call from Geraldine Manson and I met with her and two Elders to talk

about prayer gathering at The Centre. It was agreed that we would meet on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of

each month at 2 pm for one hour. We held our first gathering for prayer two months ago.

Before beginning these prayer gatherings I was invited to one of the monthly gatherings for the Elders.

This was followed by my attending the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Hearings in Port

Alberni and Victoria. Each of these gatherings has assisted me in understanding how we can share in

our prayer gatherings our needs together.

Now that we have started these gatherings, it is time to give them some formal direction and shape. I

look forward to sharing in the words of prayer in both of our languages and in our sacred

music.

I look forward to listening to prayer and music as we listen for The Creator and find direction in our

shared times together.

Fr. Brian Evans,

St. Paul’s Anglican Church.

Join Us

When: 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month (June 21)

Where: 2pm in Chief & Council Chambers

Greetings in Jesus Name John 1:1-2, 2

We declare to you what was from the beginning--

What we have heard

What we have seen with our eyes

What we have looked at and touched with our hands--concerning the Word of Life.

This life was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it, and declare to you, the

Eternal Life that was with the Father and was revealed to us. We declare to you

what we have heard and seen so that you also may have fellowship with us; and

truly our fellowship is with the Father and with the Son Jesus Christ.

This message we have heard and proclaim to you, that God is light and in Him

there is no darkness at all.

Our term in this church has come to an end---we would like to say:

Thank You. Thank You all for the many ways you all have showed your love to us.

A big thank You to every homes in the 4 Reserves of the Snuneymuxw band.

Thank you for our friends and families, for the opportunities to have a good

relationship with all of you.

To the Chief Douglas White III and all the Councilors, the Staff's of the Band

Office and not forgetting the Elders of the Snuneymuxw Community.

We Your Pastors love you all.

We give many thanks for the many hands and hearts that served NNVC during

our term of 3 yrs here. Our prayers that God will bless all of you and strengthen those

who are seeking a place to serve Him---Good Bye to all our beloved friends and all members

of our community, all our beloved people in Christ and May God Bless us All.

Blessings from.

SFN Pest Control

It is that time of year when various types of pests become more active. Please help SFN administra-

tion in combatting the problem!

Mice/rats –Cleaning the yard and house of open food sources (Dog/cat food, left over foods, deer car-

casses and skins) and also cutting grass and clearing all possible nesting areas (junk piles, burn piles,

old couches or beds, tires) in the yard will help control mice and rats.

Ants- pop/juice containers attract ants (any sweet foods or drinks). If these are left in the house or out-

side the house. Ants will be attracted to your home.

Bed bugs – are highly transferable and can move from home to home very quickly. Unfortunately

many travel through USED furniture. They can also travel through luggage and clothing. This bug is by

far the hardest to get rid of. Full cooperation from the tenant/home owner with our professional service

provider will be the only way to get rid of this bug.

If you have a problem with pests please give our maintenance department a call

Attention all SFN Members

Fire Safety Issue

It has been noted by SFN Administrative personnel that there are a number of shared driveways being blocked by either vehicles and / or other debris whereby emergency response crews do not have di-rect access to homes in behind other homes.

This would significantly increase the emergency response time of fire safety personnel!!

Please keep driveways clear for emergency response vehicles at all times!

Thank you for your cooperation!

SFN Recreation Donations and Repayment Stipulations

Attention:

It is a requirement that the donation you receive be compensated back to the Snuneymuxw First

Nation in the manner of community service hours. You will be called upon at any given time within the

fiscal year to contribute your hours by way of:

Maintenance related items – i.e. general community clean-up

Special events – i.e. kitchen / food clean-up / preparation assistance / set-up for special events

Elders assistance – i.e. general housing maintenance or interior homemaking assistance

Other

If the donation is for a young child / children and this child is unable to perform any of the tasks as per

the above-mentioned listing, then it is the parent’s responsibility to perform the required community

service hours.

If, after being called upon to pay-back the donation by way of community hours and you have not ful-

filled your community service hours; you will become ineligible for future donations.

Please note the following:

Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent request funding for them and eligibility for dona-

tions are for SFN members only.

This is a one time / one sport donation per fiscal year; example – a child is not eligible for a dona-

tion in both soccer and lacrosse within a fiscal year.

If you are part of a large sporting club that requires your signature, it is your responsibility to sign

that form. SFN will only process cheques for SFN members that have signed the donation applica-

tion.

The donation versus the volunteer community hours works per the following example:

Example: Lacrosse registration donation for four (4) children - $75.00 x 4 = $300.00

$300.00 divided by $15.00 per hour = 20 community service hours

I, ________________________________ agree to the above-mentioned sport donation requirements
