Most people would think that working for an entrepreneurial or visionary CEO would be a dream job. Who wouldn’t want to work for an executive that gets excited about new ideas and supports them? According to Forbes, they lack the resources needed to try multiple ideas at once. Instead, let’s look at the example set by an up and coming skin care company where the revenue has grown 10-fold since 2010.

First, we should talk about those high paid cheer leaders who come up with one “fantastic” idea after another and never seem to get anywhere with any of them. That exciting CEO is going to become a bear when all of his fantastic ideas flop at the end of the quarter. There you sit, being chastised and thinking, “If he would stick with one thing for a second, it just might work!”

Honestly, how often has a quick fix actually been a fix? Come on, be real – it is most often an inevitable failure and everyone is upset because their hard work and time is wasted.

When Rodan + Fields saw uneven growth across the nation, they began to question this trend. Effective Business StrategyThere are some direct selling companies that are also known as “MLM” – or multi-level marketing – that seek only high performance consultants.

These companies do not seek salespeople who truly believe in the products and the changes these products can make in someone’s life. They only want recruitment of more salespeople. These people care only about their own income rather than the products and will end up seeking greener grass. Once again, success in Rodan + Fields comes from the value of products.

my only concern here is that you previously mentioned that people shouldn't work for a CEO... Now you're mentioning that R+F has one.... which could be confusing or off-putting to your readers.I understand that with R+F, you're not TECHNICALLY working FOR the CEO, but others may not realize this.

When Rodan + Fields launched their skin care lines, they did so in high dollar department stores. The numbers were high and stores were thrilled. Unfortunately, the doctors were not seeing the products becoming as wide-spread as they intended.

In 2006, they considered direct sales and gave it a trial run with a ”House Call” event in a Southern California home. When local TV stations got wind of it their phone lines lit up with individuals wanting to know how they could get involved. As a result, in 2008, Rodan + Fields became the first prestigious skincare brand to exit retail for direct sales!

Lori Busch thought that the company would attract seasoned network marketers because of the strength of the doctor’s brand. Oh no, they reached those who appreciated the product, giving Rodan + Fields a challenge. They had to figure out how to take the passion for the product and turn it into direct sales.

Busch found that coupling the how-to’s of doing business with the honest enthusiasm fostered a sales and down-line explosion!
