Among the stars expected for this year=s championship are the remarkable Goldikova (Ire) (Anabaa), seeking an historic fourth straight win the GI Breeders= Cup Mile; and last year=s juvenile champion Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie), who will try for a second Breeders= Cup victory in the GI Classic after battling back from a life-threatening liver disease. Classic pre-entries also include Havre de Grace (Saint Liam), who will make her case to become the third straight filly to earn Horse of the Year honors when she tackles the boys in the Classic; and So You Think (NZ) (High Chaparral {Ire}) will look to extend his dominance to a third continent in his first attempt on the dirt. AThese horses represent a brilliant cross-section of international talent returning again to Louisville for two outstanding days of racing,@ commented President and Chief Executive Officer Craig Fravel. AThere is no better place than Churchill Downs and no better management team to put on a significant event in the racing world.@ The pre-entries include 29 overseas horses and 66 Group/Grade I winners. Uncle Mo and Goldikova are joined by six other returning Breeders= Cup champions: last year=s Sprint champion Big Drama (Montbrook), the last two winners of the Turf Sprint in California Flag (Avenue of Flag) and Chamberlain Bridge (War Chant), and the last two winners of the GI F/M Turf in Midday (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) and Shared Account (Pleasantly Perfect), as well as last year=s Marathon winner Eldaafer (A.P. Head Confident in Four-Peat Bid It wasn=t long after the cheers had died down fromGoldikova (Ire) (Anabaa)=s historic third win in the GI Breeders= Cup Mile, that the Wertheimers announcedtheir star mare would stay in training in 2011 for a tiltat an improbable fourth Mile. The 6-year-old marebegan the year with a win in the G1 Prix d=Ispahan, anddespite earning a 14th Group 1 tally in the G1 Prix

Rothschild, hasseemed vulnerablewith runner-up effortsin the G1 Queen AnneS., G1 Prix Jacques leMarois and G1 Prix dela Foret. Still, trainerFreddy Head entersthis year=s Breeders=Cup with plenty ofconfidence. AShe looks thesame,@ Head reportedyesterday. AShe worksthe same at home.

She maybe hasn=t been very lucky this year. Maybe atDeauville [in the le Marois], we didn=t have the best ofruns, the going was a bit soft. And as for the [Foret], itwas a record-breaking race. She missed in the QueenAnne at Ascot by just a length and I knew it was goingto be a very tough race because the mile at Ascot is abit far for her, it=s very testing. But otherwise, I thinkshe has done everything that we=ve wanted her to do. Ithink her form is as good, if not better, than last year. Ithink she=s done as well as she did last year. I comewith great confidence.@ Head is looking forward to the historic challenge. AIt seems unreal to be going for a fourth Breeders=Cup,@ he admitted. AIt is a very special thing. To train a6-year-old mare is something that I=ve never donebefore. All this is new territory. This year, I must say, Iwas very happy with her. I think she is as good as shehas ever been.@

Repole Thinks Mo is the Comeback Kid Owner Mike Repole and trainer Todd Pletcher hadthings all mapped out for their juvenile champion UncleMo (Indian Charlie). AAt the beginning of the year, Todd and I scriptedthat we wanted to be in the Breeders= Cup Classic atthe end of the year,@ Repole recalled yesterday. AThis isnot the way we wanted to do it, but we got here andwe should be first, second or third favorite [in theClassic].@ The majority of Uncle Mo=s sophomore campaign waslost when he was diagnosed with a liver disease, butthe champ has bounced back with a gritty runner-upeffort in the Aug. 27 GI King=s Bishop S. followed by asparkling three-length victory in the Oct. 1 GII Kelso H.Should the handsome bay complete the comeback witha win in the GI Breeders= Cup Classic, Repole thinkshe=ll be more than just racing=s Horse of the Year. ATo me, if he wins the Classic, not only is he Horse ofthe Year, he=s probably ESPN Comeback player of theyear, he=s probably Sports Illustrated athlete of theyear. What he=s doing at such a high level is

remarkable; losing 200 pounds inMay and June, gaining thatweight back and now competingat this level. To me that takes, not a super horse, but one of thegreatest of all times, to pull off afeat like this, if he is able to doit.@ And Repole thinks Uncle Mo isup to the challenge. AUncle Mo has never lookedbetter, has never trained better,@the New Yorker stated. AThis isthe Uncle Mo we thought we=dsee the whole 3-year-old

season.@ Repole, who plans to host A60-70 friends and family@at the Breeders= Cup, said that Uncle Mo may comeback for a 4-year-old campaign despite an agreement tostand the colt at Ashford upon his retirement. AThere is definitely a chance [he=ll come back],whether he wins or he loses,@ Repole said. AWhen Inegotiated the deal back in July and August, I didn=teven know if Uncle Mo would make it back to theraces. The deal was, if he doesn=t come back to theraces, we=ll retire him in July, and if he comes back,we=ll just play it by ear. This is a partnership, I didn=tsell the horse 100%. I own a significant portion of thehorse. If Uncle Mo comes back next year, it will bebecause Todd and I think it is the right thing. And ifUncle Mo doesn=t come back, it will be because we aredoing what is best for him. It will not be a Coolmore orAshford decision.@

Havre de Grace a Revelation for Porter By just about anyone=s standards Havre de Grace(Saint Liam) had a pretty good season in 2010, hittingthe board in all six starts while keeping top company. The filly won the GII Cotillion S. and was second in theGI Alabama S., GI Go For Wand S. and third in the GIBreeders= Cup Ladies= Classic. Owner Rick Porteradmitted he didn=t know what to expect when thetalented bay returned for a 4-year-old campaign. AOriginally, when [trainer] Larry [Jones] got the horseat the first of the year, I don=t think we anticipatedwhere we would be now,@ Porter said. Havre de Grace began the year with wins in the GIII Azeri S., GI Apple Blossom H. and GIII Obeah S.The filly suffered her first loss of the year when secondafter a dramatic battle with Blind Luck (Pollard=s Vision)in the GII Delaware H., but talk about a possible Horseof the Year title began after a 1 1/4-length victory inthe Sept. 3 GI Woodward S. AShe continued to improve through the Azeri and theApple Blossom,@ Porter explained. AAnd then we madesome choices in our races in New York and things haveworked out beautifully for us. It=s been a great surprisefor her to mature as a 4-year-old and she is at the topof her game right now.@ Havre de Grace was cross-entered in both the Classicand Friday=s GI Ladies= Classic, but Porter confirmed thefillies= race was just a fall-back. AThe only reason that we wouldn=t run in the Classic,I think, is if we drew the one hole, or if we saw acomplete difference in the weather on Friday andSaturday,@ Porter explained. AI am using the entry intothe Ladies= Classic strictly as an insurance policy incase a couple things go wrong.@

O’Brien Holds Court Aidan O=Brien yesterday gave the low-down on thestable=s big three for the Classic, Turf and Mile, admitting that he was in the dark as to whether So YouThink (NZ) (High Chaparral {Ire}) would handle the dirt. The Ballydoyle conditioner also revealed that the use oflasix would be governed by looking at each horse inturn, suggesting that the recent flop of Zoffany (Ire)(Dansili {GB}) in Keeneland=s GI Shadwell Turf Mile mayhave been down to the use of that medication. ASo YouThink has those attributes we feel that you need, butwe don=t know about the dirt as he hasn=t run on itbefore,@ O=Brien said. AWe think he=s a great travelerthrough his races and is tactically sharp. He is a verymature, seasoned horse and we always thought theworld of him, but his high cruising speed makes himunique and the better the race, the better those horsesare. He has an amazing constitution and capacity forwork and he had a couple of months off in the summerwith an autumn campaign in mind. Very few horses canbe backed up in big races like this and he didn=t lose akilo at Ascot last time. That shows how strong andcompetitive he is and he=s naturally very quick from thegates like Giant=s Causeway.

ARyan [Moore] will decide where he is in the race, butusually he has pace to get a nice position,@ the traineradded. O=Brien also revealed that J “TDN RisingStar” J Await the Dawn (Giant=s Causeway) willsidestep the Classic in favor of the Turf. AAwait theDawn is a horse we dreamt about this year and

everything was going to plan up toYork, but he was close to passingaway after that and it was touch andgo for a long time. We think it wastravel sickness brought on by anxietyand it=s unusual that he is able to beback to where he is and beingconsidered as a runner. We=re veryhappy to go for the Turf, whichwouldn=t be as extreme a test for himas the Classic.@ Of the Mile hopeZoffany, he added, AWe were excitedabout him after his run in the G1 StJames=s Palace S., but he lost his way

and his latest performance may have been down tofirst-time lasix, as we couldn=t put our finger on anyother reason and he seems to be well since. Everyhorse is different and there is no hard-and-fast ruleregarding lasix, so each horse will be discussed. All thehorses are in a good place and the races are coming upnicely, so we=re looking forward to it.@

Musical Romance Supplemented to F/M Sprint... When interviewed for a TDN ATake Two@ piece lastweek, Pinnacle Racing Stable=s Adam Lazarus knewthat in Musical Romance (Concorde=s Tune), a $22,000juvenile acquisition, he had a filly with the quality to bea contender in the GI Breeders= Cup Filly and MareSprint, but was looking at a hefty fee to nominate herto the Breeders= Cup. AUnless I hit the Powerball, we=reprobably not going to run,@ he said matter-of-factly.Well, there was no seven-figure jackpot to tap into, butLazarus and trainer Bill Kaplan, his partner in PinnacleRacing, decided to pony up the money and MusicalRomance will make the trip to Churchill after all. AIt had nothing to do with whether she couldcompete, but just that it was going to be so expensiveto do it,@ said Lazarus, who admitted that last week=swithdrawal of Sassy Image (Broken Vow), who nippedMusical Romance in the GI Princess Rooney H. in July, was a motivating factor. ABill came to me on Sundayand said , AWhat do you think?@ and was there anyonein the race you=re really afraid of. I said, >No.= Ourjockey Juan Leyva and Bill have done such a terrific jobwith her, and this is their life and their dream. It alsoputs our partnership in the spotlight and hope itgenerates some publicity for us. This type ofopportunity doesn=t come along very often.@ And Lazarus isn=t planning on going to Louisvillesimply to collect monogrammed purple baseball caps. AWe=re going with a really live shot to win the wholething,@ he offered.

Melbourne Cup field to face stringent vet checksBy racingandsports.com.au

Trainer Profile: John M. Gaver IIIby Teresa Genaro

Tattersalls Autumn Sale (cont. from p10) While U.S. buyers have been notably quiet at a sale

they once dominated, there has been a biggerAustralian representationthan ever, andCaulfield-based handlerRobert Smerdon, whocould be represented byShewan (Aus) (Blevic{Aus}) in Tuesday=s G1Emirates Melbourne Cup,was paying his firstshopping visit toNewmarket. Smerdon

was advised by locally based agent Stephen Hillen, andthey paid 260,000gns for Juddmonte homebredVerdant (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}), who was Listed-placedfor trainer Sir Michael Stoute. Tom Pritchard-Gordon ofBadgers Bloodstock also made a play for the 4-year-old,on whom Ciaran McManus, son of top jump owner J PMcManus, was underbidder.Smerdon and Hillen teamed up to buy the following lot,the smart handicapper Arch Fire (Arch), for180,000gns. He was another Juddmonte offeringconditioned by Stoute. Smerdon is employed at one ofthree stables run under the Aquanita Racing banner, and he had been drawn to Newmarket by the recentsuccesses of European horses in Australia. "I was put in touch with Stephen through [jockey]Johnny Murtagh, and he has been a big help with hisknowledge of the local form,@ Smerdon explained. AWedid a lot of work on the catalogue but I am a novicefeeling my way. We=ve had the occasional Europeanhorse before but they could make up half theMelbourne Cup field next week, and I decided to comehere and tip my toe in the water. We have looked atsome privately as well with Stephen, and these werethe only two we bid on at the sale." Cont. p12

Paul Moroney saw off Ned Sangster and then StuartBoman of Blandford Bloodstock at 130,000gns for theclassy Juddmonte offering Picture Editor (GB) (Dansili{GB}). "He has been a pacemaker and has looked a tiredhorse and we=ll give him some time off to freshen upand look forward to this time next year. They needplenty of time to acclimatise," said Moroney, buying forhis trainer brother Mike. "It=s very good value for uscoming here. You=d be paying that sort of money forsomething with no black-type form from New Zealand, and an equivalent horse would make aboutNZ$500,000." Moroney=s sentiments were echoed by Bruce Slade, assistant to famed Australian trainer Gai Waterhouse, and another first-time buyer at Tattersalls. Afterspending 125,000gns through Johnny McKeever onJeremy Noseda=s two-time winner Galiando (GB)(Galileo {Ire}), Slade reflected: "I=ve found it great valuehere, and the same standard of stayers would costbetween a quarter and a half more if we got them fromNew Zealand." The sale concludes today with a lower-key finalsession starting at 9:30 a.m.

    AROUND THE WORLD

VINTAGE RENEWAL OF F-T FALL CONCLUDES The Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearlings Sale got offto a strong start at the company=s Newtown Paddocksin Lexington Monday, but what looked like anauspicious opener proved to be the most modest ofthree days of selling, as the sale concluded its three-day stand with an outstanding final session yesterday. On the day, no fewer than four horses made over

$200,000, led by aMedaglia d=Oro--Catumbellacolt who went to AdenaSprings for a sale-topping$380,000. Mill Ridgeconsigned the half-brotherto GISW Honor in War(Lord at War {Arg}) as hip915, with Mark Cassecoming in as the directunderbidder. Just asencouraging, eight horsesbrought six figuresWednesday, pushing the

sale total to 22. By way of comparison, only ninehorses made six figures during the entirety of last year=ssale, when only two made $200,000 or more. The saleaverage of $24,010 was up 76.3%, while the salemedian of $12,000 was up an even more substantial140%. APeople were really hungry for horses here,@ saidBluewater Sales= Meg Levy. AI guess it=s just supplymeeting demand. People feel a little more positive, andit seems the market has solidified since September.@Fasig-Tipton=s President and CEO Boyd Browning, Jr.said he was thrilled with the results. AThe main body ofthe sale was very successful, and there was strongdemand to the very end. I had some consignors expresssome concern when the catalogue came out-->Will therebe enough money there? What am I going to do with alate hip number?=--but we saw horses bring over$100,000 late in the catalogue and multiple bidders onmany of the last lots, so the demand was therethroughout the sale. Overall, the sale was veryencouraging to us, and very encouraging to the overallmarketplace.@ Many observers at least partiallyattributed the rebound in this year=s yearling sales toadvantageous tax breaks. In 2011, buyers can write-off100% of their purchases if the horses are put into usethis year. That number goes down 50% next year. AThetax break is huge,@ said trainer Kenny McPeek. ANextyear, there could be a significant dip [without it].@

Adena Again, This Time for Sale Topper... Frank Stronach=s Adena Springs continued to amass awide array of prospects at Fasig-Tipton, a month afterbringing home no fewer than 44 yearlings at Keeneland

September. Adenapurchased at least 32yearlings at the Fasig-Tipton Fall Yearling sale, including five of theauction=s 22 six-figurehorses. Fittingly, it wasAdena=s perseverancefor the sale-toppingMedaglia d=Oro--Catumbella colt thatprovided the sale=shighlight. Adena reps

Mark Roberts, Jack Brothers and Dan Hall--perched onthe second floor of the sale pavilion just to the right ofthe press box--outlasted Mark Casse, who was on thephone directly under them crouching against the backwall. From the family of European Horse of the YearAllez France and Grade I winners like La Gueriere andIcon Project, the well-made youngster had all theingredients, said Roberts. AHe was just a really, reallynice colt, and he=s a half to a Grade I winner,@ he said.AIt=s a great family; Frank=s had some success out ofthat family before, and he was just a big, strong colt.We liked him a lot.@ Roberts added the price was nosurprise. AIt was maybe a touch higher than we firstthought, but not by much.@ Roberts was among themany buyers who complimented Fasig on the quality ofhorses assembled at the sale. AI think they=ve done agreat job,@ said Roberts. AIt=s become a sale peoplearen=t afraid to come to and buy a horse at.@

Wrong Sale, Right Price... As was the case with the $260,000 Arch filly thattopped Tuesday=s session, the sale-topping $380,000

Medaglia d=Oro--Catumbella colt wasbeing pointed toward a previousauction--in this case Fasig=sSaratoga Selected Sale--before aminor injury suffered on shippingday altered plans. AHe came up withsome swelling, and so we wereforced to scratch him,@ saidconsignor Mill Ridge=s Headley Bell.AThankfully, Bayne Welker andFasig-Tipton worked with us andsupported us, and gave usconfidence that there would bepeople here to support the sale.

They=ve done a heckuva job, just as everybody on thefarm did a great job. Mark Casse, who I think is asgood a judge of horses as anyone, wanted him verybadly, as did Mark Roberts and Adena--and they havean exceptional team as well.

So we were very fortunate that two top buyerswanted the horse. But he was a Saratoga horse thatjust happened to be in this sale. Thankfully, this markethere could support a Saratoga horse. He brought whathe was worth--he was that kind of horse. But truly, hestood out in this market. At Saratoga, he was justanother one.@ Mill Ridge co-bred the colt, in partnership withAudrey ATolie@ Otto=s JAMM Ltd. AShe=s a partner onKeeper Hill and has been a dear friend of the farm,@ Bellsaid of Otto. Originally from St. Louis, Otto has beenliving in Lexington for the past 20 years and was onhand to watch the colt sell. She has bred, amongothers, millionaire Strut the Stage and GSW Zavata.Otto bought an interest in Keeper Hill when that fillywas a 2-year-old in 1997 and, along with Mill Ridge, campaigned the daughter of Deputy Minister to a win inthe following year=s GI Kentucky Oaks. The name ofOtto=s operation from the first initial of her fourchildren: John, Audrey, Michael and Matthew.

‘Strike’ Force Four for Casse... Mark Casse might have been shut out on the saletopper, but did walk away from Fasig with four otheryearlings, including the sale=s second-highest-priced

horse, hip 780, a colt by SmartStrike who was hammered downfor $270,000. Bluewater Salesconsigned the son of Yaqeen(GB) (Sadler=s Wells), a stakes-winning half-sister to MGISWGrand Couturier (GB) (GrandLodge). As was the case whenhe purchased a Lemon Drop Kid--Present Danger colt for$190,000 on Tuesday, Casseopted to not identify his client, but did confirm the horses werepurchased for the same person. Asked about his dearestacquisition, Casse said, AI love

Smart Strike--I trained a champion by him a few yearsago--and I just thought he was a nice colt. When youget all those things together...@ He added, AWe=re always trying to buy two-turnhorses, and I thought he looked like one. But a lot ofthe Smart Strikes are pretty versatile and can do a littlebit of everything. We=ll break him now, and let him tellus what he wants to do.@ Casse said the colt and the rest of his purchases willnow be sent to his Moonshadow Farm in Florida. AWe=llbreak them there, and when they get up to startbreezing, then we=ll send them over to [the] OBS [salesand training complex].@

    A # will distinguish first-time stakes-winners, a + willindicate first-time starters, an (S) will be used for state-bred races, a (C) will be used for maiden-claiming races.

Another Strong Fasig Sale for Bluewater... For a time Wednesday afternoon, it looked like MegLevy=s Bluewater Sales would be represented by itsthird Fasig-Tipton sale topper in the past 15 months. Mill Ridge=s Medaglia d=Oro coltultimately blocked the hat trick, but theLexington-based operation nonethelesshad reason to celebrate after selling thesale=s second-highest-priced horse, theSmart Strike--Yaqeen (GB) colt whowent to Mark Casse for $270,000. Thecolt is the second foal from his 7-year-old dam, and was scratched from aprevious engagement at KeenelandSeptember in favor of this spot. Levyjudged the time between sales only helped the colt=scause, and said the price wasn=t unexpected. ANot afterhe got 12 scopes,@ she said. AThat=s a lot for any sale. He=s jumped forward a lot in the last couple of months, and he=s a horse with a big hip and looks like he couldbe early. He had a lot of activity, and this market=s justbeen fantastic.@ Bluewater=s recent run at Fasig salesbegan at the 2010 July Sale, where Gold Rally(Medaglia d=Oro--Beright) brought $450,000; thefollowing month in Saratoga, Bluewater sold the $1.2million Global Response (A.P. Indy--Maryfield).

Branham Steps Up for Medaglia Filly... Five years ago, owner Doug Branham purchased aproperty out on Paris Pike that he would wind upchristening Hurricane Hills Farm, and yesterday, thesuccessful businessman took a big step populating thatfarm with blue-blooded fillies. Bidding in the press boxalongside Ken McPeek and the trainer=s buying team,Branham bought hip 844, a filly by Medaglia d=Oro outof Grade I winner Awesome Humor (Distorted Humor),for $250,000. It was the second-highest price for a fillyduring the main portion of the sale. Bred by WinStarFarm, the filly was consigned by Chris Baccari=s BaccariBloodstock LLC. She had previously been offered at lastmonth=s Keeneland September Sale, but was boughtback for $190,000. The filly=s dam, Awesome Humor, won the 2002 renewal of the GI Spinaway S. atSaratoga in addition to three other graded events duringher career. She was also second in the 2003 edition ofthe GI Alabama S. AThe best filly in the sale, and maybe the best horse inthe sale,@ asserted McPeek. AShe just had all the rightparts. She was a really good version of a Medagliad'Oro. I ran against the mare, Awesome Humor, andshe's even better looking than her momma was. Doug'sgot a farm out on Paris Pike and is trying to upgrade forthe long term with his fillies and mares, and this is thekind of filly I encouraged him to go for.@ Branham is the president of Colonial ClaimsCorporation, an insurance business that facilitatescatastrophic claims during hurricanes, earthquakes andthe like.

AThe reason [the farm is] called Hurricane Hills isbecause he worked Hurricane Katrina,@ said McPeek.AAny natural disaster, his company is involved in.@ McPeek is no stranger to success at this sale. Hebought his very first stakes winner--Warside (Lord atWar {Arg})--for just $9,500 here in 1991, and hasadded several others in the ensuing years. AThere are a lot of good horses that come out of hereevery year,@ McPeek said. AIt=s kind of the same as thelast few days of Keeneland [September]. You=re gettingabout 3% stakes winners from this sale, so if there are1,000 horses, you know there are 30 in here. You justhave to find them. At September, they historically gofrom 7% stakes winners on Day 1, and it tails off toabout 2 or 3% by the end of the sale. You just have toflush them out, which is what Dominic, Rory and I do.@ McPeek=s team includes the Florida-based DominicBrennan, who also breaks McPeek=s horses, andbloodstock agent Rory Callis.

ABut God, there area lot of good turf races in theUnited States. He=s got abeautiful page, and if he canrun like I=ll think he=ll be able to,then he could be worth a lot ofmoney. I thought he was a verygood physical, he jumpedthrough all the hoops, and I justreally liked the horse.@ Miller declined to say forwhom she was buying, but saidthere was a chance the coltcould return to the auction ringas a 2-year-old. A[The client is] an end-user, but sometimes he=ll put afew through the juvenile sales,@ she said. Shemoved great, she did everythingright, and is just a nice filly. Whenyou=ve got one that nice, it doesn=tmatter where they=re foaled.@ Lanni added, AI=m happy to havegotten a filly from the dispersal.[Lizza] was a great breeder and didso much for the industry, and it=s good to have onefrom their breeding program. I=m just fortunate to workfor people who allow me to buy these kinds of horses.@ Lanni has had success buying for Glen Hill at this salebefore. Trainer Mark Hennig, who currently has a single horsein his care for Broadway producer Jerry Frankel and hisbrother Ronald, capitalized on his limited opportunitieswith Lily Lynn, who came from out of the clouds topost an eye-catching win at Belmont Wednesdayafternoon. As recently as last spring, the owner/trainercombo tasted success with Chinglish (War Front),winner of the JW Murphy S. at Pimlico in May. In acase of good timing, the Frankel brothers--who werebasking in the glow of their pupil=s runaway victoryyesterday--were also in the midst of preparing fortonight=s launch of the Broadway show, appropriatelynamed, AChinglish.@ (For more info. on the show, click here)

Better Late Than Never... Heading into her career debut off a series of solid, ifnot blistering morning works, the late-starting Lily Lynnwas given only mild consideration for yesterday=sunveiling. Even Hennig had some doubts going in. AI honestly thought she would want more ground, because of the Dynaformer on the bottom side,@ saidHennig, referring to thesophomore=s dam,Disturbing. A[Jockey] Alex [Solis]and I talked about it inthe paddock, and weknew there was goingto be a lot of pace inthe race. I told him, >Ifyou just sit patiently onher, she=ll kick.= I knewif we got the rightsetup, she=d run by a lot of them late.@ Despite being overlooked by New York bettors atgenerous odds of 17-1, the filly took advantage of crispearly spilts and produced a sparkling turn of foot late tocollect her first career victory under minimalencouragement. AIt=s hard to be real confident going in with a horsethat doesn=t have a lot of speed, but she definitelyshowed some quality,@ admitted Hennig. Serving as an advisor, Hennig picked out the bay fora modest $65,000 at last year=s Fasig-Tipton Midlanticsale in Timonium, Maryland. AI really liked her action and she had a big, nice hip onher,@ recalled Hennig. AEven though she had theDynaformer on the bottom side, she really looked likeshe would be a racy type. Most of the Dynaformers I=vehad have been a little longer and and lankier, and wefelt that she had a little bit of a different quality to her.@ Hennig indicated that he was also drawn to the fillybecause of her dam, Disturbing. AShe was boarded at Dr. Lavin=s Longfield Farm inKentucky,@ he said. ASo I knew her and really liked thefamily well.@ As for Lily Lynn=s future, Hennig offered, AUltimately,I=d like to send her to Florida. You have to keep at theback of your mind with a pedigree like that, theLangfuhr out of the Dynaformer mare, she may evenrelish the turf at some point, too. Since she is a 3-year-old, I=ll probably bring her back in allowance companyeither at Aqueduct or Gulfstream.@--CBoss
