Sam Bullard, Darley’s Director of Stallions, commented: “We are delighted to announce the fees for the Darley roster in Europe. Never before have we been able to offer breeders such great value across every sector of the market.

“To be entrusted with the future careers of two great speedsters in Harry Angel and Jungle Cat, Eclipse winner Hawkbill, by one of America’s best, as well as the highest-rated horse in the world in Cracksman is a huge privilege.

“We will continue our policy of selling a limited number of breeding rights and to that end we look forward to working closely with breeders as we strive to uncover the next Dubawi.”

Among the established members of the Darley roster, leading sire Dubawi, whose six Gr.1 winners this year include the top juveniles Too Darn Hot and Quorto, will stand again at £250,000. New Approach, sire of this year’s Gr.1 Derby victor Masar, will also remain at of £30,000, while Exceed And Excel (€50,000) and Teofilo (€40,000) will also remain at their 2018 fees. Iffraaj has had his slightly reduced to £35,000, while Slade Power, who has sired 13 individual winners to date from his first crop, has had his fee halved from it’s 2018 level to €7,500.

CHARLES O’BRIEN SWOOPS FOR SON OF AUSTRALIAThe only son of Australia on offer on the opening day of this year’s Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale dominated a decidedly low-key day’s trade when selling to trainer Charles O’Brien for €52,000.

In keeping with the trends witnessed at other lower tier sales this autumn, the first day of the auction played host to a rather subdued level of demand, with the average of €5,786 falling by 21 points and the €3,200 median dropping back 36 per cent. The turnover of €862,150 fell by 33 per cent and the clearance rate for the day decreased from 72 to 58 per cent.

The session-topping son of Australia was making his first visit to the sales ring and a fine season for his sire’s first crop of runners meant that he was always going to be in some demand. The sire’s initial runners this season include the Gr.2-winning Beyond Reason

The sale contained just one yearling by Showcasing and the Nafferty Stud-consigned filly looks set to go into training in Britain after being knocked down to the BBA Ireland’s Eamonn Reilly at €45,000. Lot 244 is a half-sister to a winner and they are out of a Dubai Destination mare who numbers the multiple Listed scorer and Gr.1-placed Runaway (King’s Best) amongst her siblings.

“She is a nice filly by a very good sire and I’ve bought her for an existing client who will more than likely put her into training with Karl Burke,” declared Reilly.

Just a few lots earlier, Charles O’Brien was acting for Shawn Dugan when he spent €35,000 on a son of Dragon Pulse hailing from Cross Stables. The 6,500gns foal purchase (Lot 238) is out of

and a trio of Gr.1-placed runners and such exploits were not lost on those in attendance as Lot 163’s price sped past €20,000.

Charles O’Brien did have to contend with several late challenges, but he was undeterred in his pursuit of the Shanaville Stables offering who eventually went his way at €52,000. The colt is the fourth produce of a winning Dalakhani mare whose siblings include the Gr.3 Prix Chloe winner Sparkling Beam (Nayef) and the Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac third Rainbow Springs (Selkirk).

“He’s a good-looking colt from a good family and he was a standout here today. The sire has done well this year and this is the first one I’ve bought by him, so hopefully he is one to look forward to,” remarked the trainer.

half-sister to the Gr.3-winning Qaraaba (Shamardal), who is the dam of this season’s high class US three-year-old Californiagoldrush (Cape Blanco), who is trained by Dugan’s husband Neil Drysdale. Californiagoldrush has won this year’s Gr.2 Sands Point Stakes and reached the frame in the Gr.1 Del Mar Oaks.

David Marnane, who struck gold at Royal Ascot this summer with Settle For Bay, will take charge of a good-looking son of Toronado who went to Peter Doyle for €28,000. This colt (Lot 233) is the third produce of a winning Selkirk mare who hails from the tremendous and prolific dynasty founded by the Crystal Palace mare Alruccaba.

“He’s a very nice colt and he was my pick of the day. He has been bought for David Marnane and we bought Settle For Bay together as a yearling in Germany a few years ago. Let’s hope this fellow will turn out to be as good,” reflected Doyle.

The first notable transaction of the day came when a Dandy Man colt from Luca Somaini’s Deer Forest Stud was knocked down to Willie Browne’s son Jamie for €25,000. Lot 70 was picked up for €3,500 as a foal and his fortunes took a notable upswing on his return to the sales ring following his sire’s most impressive season to date. The colt is a half-brother to a five-times winner, out of a Fusaichi Pegasus mare who numbers the Gr.2 Indiana Oaks heroine Skylighter (Sky Mesa) amongst her siblings.

As the opening day came to a close, Rory O’Brien went to €23,000 for a colt (Lot 268) from the first crop of the Gr.1 Racing Post Trophy and Gr.1 St Leger winner Kingston Hill. This Wraymount Stud offering is a grandson of the Gr.1 Oaks runner-up Flight Of Fancy (Sadler’s Wells).

Armagh-based trainer Natalia Lupini is looking forward to 2019 with a Kodiac filly (Lot 153) whom she secured for €18,000. The filly shares her sire with a host of luminaries, including this year’s Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Fairyland and was offered by Tally-Ho Stud, who bred and sold the aforementioned star juvenile as well as standing the hugely successful Danehill stallion himself. This filly is the first produce of a New Approach mare whose dam is the Gr.1 1,000 Guineas winner Ameerat (Mark Of Esteem).

“She is a nice filly and we are very pleased to have got her. She’ll come back to us now to go into training and hopefully will be something nice to look forward to next summer,” remarked the trainer, whose Blairmayne has been placed in the Bold Lad Sprint Handicap on Irish Champions Weekend for the last two years.

Trainer John McConnell, whose dual-purpose string have been in terrific form over the last six months, made his presence felt when giving €18,000 for a son of Born To Sea (Lot 165) from a family that he knows well. This chesnut is a half-brother to the smart Orgilgo Bay (Lawman), who finished second for McConnell in the Gr.2 Beresford Stakes before going on to win at Gr.3 level over hurdles and reach the frame at the Cheltenham Festival. They are out of Third Dimension (Suave Dancer), whose eight winning offspring also include the dual Gr.2-winning jumper Third Intention (Azamour).

“He is a quality type of colt and I didn’t want to leave him behind. It has been a lucky family for me, with Orgilgo Bay, and I have a three-year-old half-sister, Jo Binney, who has been placed lately and I would expect her to win next year as well,” declared McConnell.

Meanwhile the BBA Ireland team paid €16,500 for a son of Zebedee consigned by Charlie Sweeney. The half-brother (Lot 216) to three winners is out of a Sinndar half-sister to the Listed Fairyway Stakes scorer Bustan (Darshaan).

The sale did have to pause for a relatively brief period in the early evening when a pipe to a water tank burst in the ceiling above the offices on the top floor of the building, which then led to a steady cascade of water that leaked into the sales ring. However, things quickly returned to normal and the day’s trade was completed without incident.

“Firstly we would like to apologise to anyone who was inconvenienced in any way, but also thank all our visitors for their pragmatic and good-natured reaction to the problem. I would also pay tribute to Ger Hennessy and his team for their quick and effective response to the leak, which allowed us to continue with the sale after a short break whilst ensuring the safety of everyone at Kildare Paddocks,” remarked Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby.

Cup Meeting was conducted an hour west at Churchill Downs in Louisville.

After nearly eight hours of trade, 140 lots were reported as sold for record gross receipts of $89,473,000, a jump of 21 per cent from last’s year’s figure of $74,200,000. The $639,093 average was nearly identical to 2017, while the median soared to $327,500 from $250,000. With 53 lots failing to reach their owners’ minimums, the unsold rate was 27 per cent, compared to just 18 per cent in 2017.

“It was a remarkable night,” Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning Jr said. “To be able to assemble a catalogue with as many quality horses as we had this year makes for an exciting and interesting evening.”

As expected, Lady Aurelia (Lot 200), the first American-based horse to win a Cartier Award, was the headliner at $7.5m. Barbara Banke, who bred the filly under her Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings and raced her in partnerships, became her sole owner on Sunday night. Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency was the vendor.

Catalogued as a broodmare prospect, the four-year-old Scat Daddy filly has not raced since finishing seventh in the Gr.1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, a race she won last year. In 2016 at Keeneland, she won at first asking and then landed the Gr.2 Queen Mary Stakes at Ascot and the Gr.1 Prix Morny at Deauville en route to being named Europe’s best juvenile filly.

Bidding opened at $2m and quickly escalated before halting at $7.2m. Announcer Terence Collier reminded the crowd that she was truly special before turning the microphone back to the auctioneer. When the action stalled again at $7.4m, Collier took

LADY AURELIA SHINES ON NIGHT OF THE STARSThe November Sale at Fasig-Tipton’s Kentucky headquarters in Lexington has become as much an event as it is an auction and this year’s renewal continued the trend on Sunday, writes Liane Crossley. Darling in third on the leader board. The four-year-old Tapit filly, winner of the Gr.1 Spinaway Stakes and a half-sister to the Gr.1 Gazelle Stakes winner Lear’s Princess (Lear Fan), is in foal to Medaglia d’Oro to a 25th February covering. Taylor Made Sales Agency was the vendor.

Sold for $3.15m was Constellation (Lot 239), in foal to Curlin on a 22nd February mating. Don Alberto Corp made the purchase from agent Bedouin Bloodstock. By Bellamy Road out of Stakes winner For Royalty (Not For Love), the five-year-old won the 2016 Gr.1 La Brea Stakes.

Two offerings went for $3m each; the first was racing and broodmare prospect Salty (Lot 129) from Baccari Bloodstock, who went to Don Alberto Corp. The four-year-old daughter of Quality Road and the Stakes-placed Dixie Union mare Theycallmeladylucky won the Gr.1 La Troienne Stakes in May on her most recent start.

Broodmare prospect American Gal (Lot 157) was purchased by Whisper Hill Farm, with Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency as the vendor. The four-year-old by Concord Point out of American Story (Ghostzapper) won the Gr.1 Humana Distaff Stakes in May and the Gr.1 Test Stakes last year. She is a full-sister to a Stakes winner and her dam is a half-sister to Gr.1 winners Seventh Street (Street Cry) and Reynaldothewizard (Speightstown).

Two offerings with strong Breeders’ Cup ties were each sold for $2.3m. Caledonia Road (Lot 168), winner of the 2017 Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, was catalogued as a racing or

the opportunity to ask the crowd to hold their applause until the final bid and Lady Aurelia’s exit.

The sale was winding to a close when Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Stopchargingmaria (Lot 234) realised the second-best price at $4.4-million. The seven-year-old Tale of the Cat mare out of Stakes winner Exotic Bloom (Montbrook), listed as in foal to Tapit on a 23rd March covering, went to Mandy Pope’s Whisper Hill Farm. Pope also bought her Pioneerof the Nile filly (Lot 233) for $1.9m, which led all foal prices. Taylor Made Sales Agency was the vendor for both.

M V Magnier went to $3.5m for the broodmare prospect Daddys Lil Darling (Lot 180), a four-year-old daughter of Scat Daddy, who earned more than $1m on the track, with a record that included a Gr.1 American Oaks victory. She was offered by Gainesway, as agent for Normandy Farm. Out of the Stakes-winning Houston mare Miss Hot Salsa, she is a half-sister to the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint winner Mongolian Saturday (Any Given Saturday). Daddys Lil Darling had a dramatic non-run in the Gr.1 Oaks last year. She spooked when nearing the start and jockey Olivier Peslier jumped off, apparently to avoid the risk of crashing into the starting gate. Neither horse nor rider was injured.

The equine stars first began to shine as darkness descended on the Bluegrass region. Pretty City Dancer (Lot 122) got the party started when she commanded a final bid of $3.5m from Stroud Coleman and closed the night in a dead heat with Daddys Lil

Sold at Keeneland for $160,000 as a yearling and for the same price at the April Two-Year-Olds Sale, Lady Eli retired with earnings just shy of $3m. A half-sister to dual Gr.3 winner Bizzy Caroline (Afleet Alex), she is out of a half-sister to three Graded Stakes winners.

A few horses earlier, the four-year-old Galileo mare Key To My Heart, Lot 105, was bought by Summer Wind Equine for $1.75m. This was the third public auction appearance for the Naas Listed winner, who was bred by Triermore Stud and was sold for 1,300,000gns as a yearling at Tattersalls and for 525,000gns at this year’s Tattersalls February Sale, when she was knocked down to BBA Ireland. Another expecting a first foal by War Front, the Eaton Sales-consigned mare is a daughter of the Gr.1-winning Bernardini mare A Z Warrior, a half-sister to Graded Stakes winners Jojo Warrior (Pioneerof The Nile) and E Z Warrior (Exploit).

“She just ticked all the boxes,” said Summer Wind Farms’ Jane Lyon. “She’s by Galileo and I’m expanding a little bit into some European blood. I’ve tried in the past to buy some out of that family. Being in foal to War Front with her first foal is going to be a no-brainer. We’re very excited to have her.”

The first seven-figure mare had also been a daughter of Galileo. The Hill ‘n’ Dales-consigned Lot 71, the Gr.3-placed Galileo’s Song, was bought for a round $1m by Shimokobe Farm, through agent Polo Green Stable. Born in Ireland, she was sold at Keeneland as a foal and has done all her racing Stateside, where she won twice and was twice Gr.3-placed. A half-sister to Gr.1 winner Magnificent Song (Unbridled’s Song), out of the placed Storm Cat mare Song To Remember, she is expecting a January first foal by Curlin.

The top-priced foal by half way through the opening session was Lot 116A, a March-foaled grey filly by Tapit. From Eaton Sales and purchased for $800,000 by Whisper Hill Farm, she is the first foal out of the Yes It’s True mare La Verdad, who won four Graded Stakes over sprint trips.

broodmare prospect and went to Narvick International. The daughter of Quality Road and the Dixie Union mare Come a Callin was consigned by Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services.

Song of Bernadette (Lot 188), dam of the Gr.1 Travers Stakes winner Catholic Boy (More Than Ready), was purchased by Bridlewood Farm. Catholic Boy was unplaced on Saturday in the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Classic. Listed as in foal to War Front on a 24th May covering, the nine-year-old Bernardini mare is out of Winner’s Edge (Seeking the Gold). Taylor Made Sales Agency was the vendor.

A Raving Beauty (Lot 160), fresh from her third place in the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, rounded out the top ten at $2m. Haruya Yoshida was the buyer and Elite was the vendor. She is by Mastercraftsman and out of the High Chaparral mare Anabasis, a half-sister to German highweight Alianthus.

The aforementioned Stopchargingmaria foal was 11th overall, while Drumette (Lot 153), dam of Saturday’s Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Monomoy Girl (Tapizar), was next in the older division at $1.85m. Bridlewood Farm made the purchase from Gainesway, agent.

“It was a remarkable night of sales this evening,’”Browning said. “When you are able to assemble a catalogue with as many quality horses as we had this year, it makes for an exciting and interesting evening.”

Lot 564 at Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale is this Casamento filly, a three-part-sister to a 105 rated horse, out of a full-sister to Gr.1 Oaks winner Love Divine from Clonmult Farm.

KEENELAND – EARLY LOTS

LADY ELI IS THE EARLY STAR FOR HILL ‘N’ DALE FARMSThe five-time Gr.1 winner Lady Eli (Divine Park), who made a fairytale recovery from serious injury, was the leading lady by half way through the opening session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. She was consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency on behalf of Sheep Pond Partners, Jay Hanley and Sol Kumin, as Lot 111 and is expecting her first foal to an early April covering by War Front. Bought by John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms for $4.2m, the six-year-old had been catalogued for the sale 12 months ago, but returned from the Breeders’ Cup with cuts to her hind legs, so was withdrawn and has resided at Hill ‘n’ Dale ever since.

“Every time she ran, she ran her eyeballs out. We’re thrilled to add her to our broodmare band,” said Sikura. “We try to keep adding elite quality mares. She’s a mare that has really everything one could ask for – courage, heart, ability and in foal to a great horse. It’s a lot of money but I thought she was extremely good value.”

TATTERSALLS ASCOT

WILD CARDS ADDED TO THURSDAY’S CATALOGUEAn additional 20 horses have been added to the catalogue for Thursday’s Tattersalls Ascot November Sale. The wild cards comprise a mixture of Flat and National Hunt horses in training, from some of the leading yards in Britain and Ireland.

Winning two-year-olds added to the sale include Lot 102 Man Of The Sea (Born To Sea) from Classic trainer Ken Condon’s yard, while Richard Hannon sends the three-year-old gelding Letsbe Avenue (Lawman), a winner this season and last, and he is Lot 144.

Dan Skelton, who recently broke the record for the fastest century of winners, sends two mares to Ascot as wildcards. The first is Lot 173 The Premier Rose, a Westerner half-sister to Thegreatjohnbrowne. She has won three times over hurdles, including last time out at Carlisle. Joining her in the catalogue is Lot 174, the six-year-old Welcome Polly, a daughter of Milan.

Point-to-point handler Stuart Crawford has entered recent Portrush five-year-old mares’ maiden winner Drumnagreagh (September Storm) as Lot 148. She is joined in the catalogue by her stable companion Lot 149 Maisy Belle, a seven-year-old daughter of Westerner.

Andrew Slattery has entered The Crafty Touch, a five-year-old daughter of Touch Of Land, as a wildcard entry. Catalogued as Lot 147, she is the recent winner of a mares’ maiden at Moira.

The sale begins at 10.30am this Thursday, 8th November, and the catalogue is available to view here.

KASPARENKO SURPRISES RIVALS IN FLOODLIT STAKESA super ride from Martin Harley saw Kasperenko win last night’s Kempton Park feature, the Listed Floodlit Stakes. The pair were in last approaching the final turn in the 1m4f contest, but came with a wide sweeping run and overtook all nine rivals early in the straight. Keeping up the momentum, the four-year-old landed the spoils by a length and three quarters from Architecture (Zoffany), who had finished second in the Gr.1 Oaks and Gr.1 Irish Oaks two seasons ago.

Kasperenko, a maiden and dual handicap winner, was having his first start in Stakes company and this was the second black-type win in as many days for his late sire Archipenko, following Va Bank’s Gr.2 Premio Roma win on Sunday.

Bred by Hillwood Thoroughbred Breeding and a dual Tattersalls sales graduate, the winner is the best of the four successful progeny of the unraced Sinndar mare Jardin, a half-sister to Gr.2 winners and sires Sleeping Indian (Indian Ridge) and Aiken (Selkirk) and Gr.3 victrix Felicity (Selkirk; dam of dual Gr.3 winner Gatewood). The Gr.1-placed grandam, Las Flores (Sadler’s Wells), also produced Listed winners by Pivotal, Nashwan and Indian Ridge.

SWEDEN

FIRST STAKES SUCCESS FOR SUSPICIOUS MINDThe big race at last night’s Bro Park fixture was the Listed Songline Classic and last year’s winner Pas De Secrets (High Chaparral) was in the five-runner line-up. The five-year-old did not quite manage to follow up, however, as he was beaten in a photo finish by Suspicious Mind (Appel Au Maitre), with the other three well beaten.

The winner, trained by Andrew Kidney for 360 North Horse Racing, has been successful 11 times in 23 previous starts, but this was his first black-type victory. Bred by Stutteri Hjortebo, he is a half-brother to the Listed-placed Academy Award filly Call Of Duty and they are among the nine winners out of Fleur En Fleur (Hernando), who won in France. She is out of a half-sister to Listed winners Foundation Spirit (Hernando) and Nibbs Point (Sure Blade), the latter the dam of Gr.3 winner Border Arrow and Listed scorer Baldaquin.

he was able to make all on his third run and score quite easily. His entry in the Gr.1 Derby looks some way off, but he too has plenty of growing to do and should be better at three.

Motakhayyel (Heeraat) was a bit green at the start on his debut in an EBF novice over 7f at Lingfield Park on Friday and had to be shoved along early on, but the 100,000gns yearling was soon on an even keel and he took over after turning for home and battled to a neck victory from another debutant in Kodiac Pride (Kodiac). It was not outstanding form, but he is another who should be a three-year-old worth following.

The novice over 6f at Wolverhampton on Thursday was an ordinary affair, but Mubakker (Speightstown) came from the rear and ultimately only had to be ridden with hands and heels to win handily enough. He should develop into at least a decent handicapper, especially on artificial surfaces.

RACING ROUND-UPBRITISH AND IRISH MAIDENS

THIS WEEK’S MAIDENS WHO CAUGHT THE EYELeodis Dream (Dandy Man) ran well enough when second at Catterick over 5f on debut and he returned to take an EBF novice over course and distance on good to soft ground on Tuesday, beating an 85-rated rival also by the sire by a head, making most of the running. Wedding Date was carrying a small penalty for a previous win, but this was a useful performance on a tight track and he should win again.

There was not much of a gallop on in the first division of the EBF maiden over an extended mile on dead ground at Nottingham on Wednesday and Dalaalaat (Kingman) was a bit keen on his second start, but he still had enough in the tank to take over a furlong out and win snugly. Though this was probably a fair race, rather than hot, he has the scope to leave this level behind next year. Mubariz (Dansili) also took a tug in the other division, but

Feliciana De Vega became the latest juvenile daughter of Lope De Vega trained by Ralph Beckett to impress on debut, sauntering away with an EBF fillies’ novice over 7f on soft ground at Newmarket on Saturday. She beat a rival rated 72 by six lengths on seemingly favourable ground, so one should not be carried away by the strict form, but she possesses plenty of scope and she should make up into a useful three-year-old like the others. In a relatively quiet week for maidens as the turf season winds down, she is the One to Watch.

DMM, one of the big spenders at the Japanese sales last year, landed the newcomers’ race over 1800m on Saturday at Kyoto with the promising Loves Only You (Deep Impact). She travelled smoothly close to the pace, finding a gap along the inside rail to score by a length from the favourite Arden Forest (Rulership). The filly is a full-sister to the high-class Real Steel, who won the Gr.1 Dubai Turf and ran second in the Gr.1 Tenno Sho Autumn and in the Japanese St Leger. Their dam Loves Only Me (Storm Cat) is an unraced half-sister to the Gr.1 winner Rumplestiltskin (Galileo), from the female line of the great Miesque (Nureyev). She also produced the Stakes winner and Group-placed Prodigal Son (Deep Impact). DMM.com last year paid ¥370m for the full-sister to the champion Gentildonna (Deep Impact) and purchased a filly by Frankel for 1.4m gns at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 .

Loves Only Me has a yearling filly by Deep Impact.

CANTOR (Jpn), 2c, Deep Impact – Miss Encore (King Kamehameha) O/B: Kaneko Makoto, T: Hideaki Fujiwara

Cantor (Deep Impact), second on his debut three weeks ago, was everybody’s choice in the maiden over 2000m on Saturday at Kyoto and he promptly delivered. Cantor is a full-brother to this year’s Japanese Derby hero Wagnerian and to the Group-placed Tenderly Voice. Their dam Miss Encore (King Kamehameha) is a winning daughter of Broad Appeal (Broad Brush), a multiple Group winner on dirt and turf. Miss Encore has a yearling and a foal, both fillies by Deep Impact.

AGO BAY (Jpn), 2f, Heart’s Cry – Kosi Bay (Storm Cat) O: Godolphin, B: Darley Japan, T: Tomohito Ozeki

Godolphin landed the newcomers’ event for fillies over 1400m on Saturday at Tokyo thanks to Ago Bay (Heart’s Cry), who flashed home clocking the last 600m in 33.2. She is the third winner out of Kosi Bay (Storm Cat), who scored twice in the French provinces for trainer Henri-Alex Pantall. The second dam Composure (Touch Gold) won the Gr.1 Santa Anita Oaks and the Gr.1 Las Virgenes Stakes. She delivered the Gr.1 performers Centring and Tranquil Manner, both by A P Indy.

Kosi Bay has a colt foal by Deep Brillante.

SCHWARZ REISE (Jpn), 2c, Heart’s Cry – Soberania (Monsun) O: Sunday Racing, B: Shadai Co, T: Noriyuki Hori

Schwarz Reise (Heart’s Cry) ran green but opened his account well on Sunday in the newcomers over 1800m at Tokyo. The talented colt ran the trip with 600m in 33.6 and could develop into a nice three-year-old. He is a half-brother to the late-maturing three-year-old Segen (Deep Impact). Their dam Soberania

Turnberry Isle (Galileo) had improved over her two starts and duly landed her third at odds on, an EBF maiden over a mile on soft ground at Naas on Sunday. She made most of the running and won what was an ordinary contest with something in hand and doubtless Ballydoyle will try and pinch some black type next year.

The EBF maiden over 7f at Kempton Park yesterday afternoon was a fair race, with Al Mureib (Dubawi) setting the standard with a rating of 84. He tried to make all on his sixth start, but was downed by a daughter of Dubawi in Watheerah, who had been beaten a short head on her debut at Newmarket. DANON FANTASY (Jpn), 2f, Deep Impact – Life For Sale (Not For Sale) O: Danox Co., B: Northern Racing, T: Mitsumasa Nakauchida ¥ 90,000,000 JRHA Select Yearling Sale by Danox Co. Ltd. Consigned by Northern Farm

Danon Fantasy (Deep Impact) will be a leading candidate for the Gr.1 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies. The Gr.3 Fantasy Stakes, despite the race name, was a demanding test for the filly, dropped from 1600m to 1400m after her maiden win at Hanshin. Jockey Yuga Kawada gave her a very patient ride and she ran on to score easily by one and three quarter lengths over Belles Soeurs (Swept Overboard) and Juranville (Kinshasa No Kiseki). She clocked the last 600m in 33.8 and will relish the return to 1600m. She is the first Group winner from three foals delivered by the Argentinian Life For Sale (Not For Sale), a dirt specialist who won the Gr.1 Gran Premio Seleccion de Potrancas and defeated the colts in the Gr.1 Gran Premio Provincia de Buenos Aires.

Life For Sale has a yearling colt by Heart’s Cry, purchased for ¥230m by Riichi Kondo at the JRHA Select Yearling Sale. Her foal is a filly by the Japanese Derby hero Kizuna.

FANTASIST (Jpn), 2c, Lord Kanaloa – Deep In Ask (Deep Impact) O/B: Toshihiro Hirosaki, T: Tomoyuki Umeda

The Gr.2 Keio Hai Nisai Stakes, over 1400m Saturday at Tokyo, turned into a tactical affair with the small pack of eight wandering the first 1000m in a pedestrian 1:02.9. Veteran jockey Yutaka Take outfoxed Mirco Demuro and pushed Fantasist (Lord Kanaloa) to his second Group win, holding by a nose the charge of the favourite filly A Will A Way (Just A Way). Fantastist is unbeaten in three starts and handled the step up from the 1200m of the Gr.3 Kokura Nisai Stakes. The Gr.1 Futurity Stakes is the obvious target for Fantasist, but stamina remains a question. Fantasist is a half-brother to the fast four-year-old filly Colorature (Taiki Shuttle), who landed three wins over 1200m. Their dam Deep In Ask

Points of View WITH CARL EVANS

Alan Harte, who owns Damma House winner Highate Hill (Presenting). (Ce)

STAR PERFORMERGETARIVER (Ire), 5m,

Getaway – Watson River (Presenting) O: Michael Murphy B: D Murphy T: Damian Murphy

Moig South in County Limerick held its first autumn fixture on Sunday and from the meeting came this winner of the five-year-old mares’ maiden race. Making her racecourse debut, Getariver became one of four horses who had a chance of winning at the second-last fence and from there she stayed on dourly to defeat another newcomer, the patiently-ridden Direct Image, who is another to note. The third had pieces of form to give the race a marker, and both she and the fourth had the benefit of a run in recent weeks.

Getaway is making a mark from his home at Grange Stud and, while Getariver’s dam was unraced, she is a half-sister to the high-class chaser Watson Lake.

HIGHATE HILL (Ire), 4g, Presenting – Lisrenny Lady (Oscar) O: Alan Harte, B: D M Forster, T: Denis Murphy €45,000 2017 Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale by Alan Harte consigned by Ballincurrig House Stud

This four-year-old was sent to Damma House in Kilkenny in a bid to break his duck at the fourth attempt and he duly obliged there on Sunday. This followed a promising run at Oldcastle in the spring and a good third at Portrush two weeks ago, and he put

that experience to good use, jumping well in front and concentrating on the job despite the attentions of a loose horse. A sound jump at the final two fences sealed his win and tees him up for an appearance at Tattersalls Ireland’s Cheltenham November Sale next week (Lot 43). His late sire was top-drawer, while his dam won a point-to-point and hurdle races, and is a half-sister to the talented Otago Trail and the capable Clarkey. This is also the family of the Gr.1 Champion Bumper and Gr.1 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Champagne Fever.

LOU TREK (Fr), 4g, Linda’s Lad – Nara Eria (Martaline) O: Billy Murray, B: Jean-Pierre Delahaye, Dr Christian Ge, T: Michael Goff €1,500 2015 Osarus November Sale by Ambrose Madden consigned by Elevage de la Reveillonnerie

Backed to make a winning debut in a nine-runner four-year-old maiden at Moig South, this youngster became another success for in-form trainer Michael Goff. He won with authority, too, jumping the fences nicely and coming home on the bridle from two horses who had shown enough in previous runs to suggest the winner was not beating mugs. His value has gone up and by how much will be assessed if he takes up his position as Lot 18 at the Cheltenham November Sale next week. It will certainly be far in excess of the €1,500 he cost as a yearling at Osarus’s Lion d’Angers sale in November 2015. Bred in France, where his sire stood at Haras de Grandcamp before his transfer to Devon’s Vauterhill Stud, he is out of an unraced mare who is top sire Martaline and her half-brother, Maxedy, won 11 races.

Denis Murphy. (Ce)
